| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jul 17, 2007 Dark and oily with a tan head. Bursts of coffee in the nose and in the flavour. Flavour is good but hte beer lacks the malt backbone to take this to the next level. A coffee lovers delight nonetheless. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Pours dark brown with a tan head that quickly disipates to virtually nothing. Light roasted coffee and alcohol in the nose. A touch of creaminess but overall weak and watery in texture. Dark chocolate and coffee flavors are most apparent. Solid but nothing too exciting about this one. Skyview (4076), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2007 On tap at Pete’s Lair Tavern in Milwaukie, Oregon. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin light tan head that slowly dissolves and leaves behind a good lacing. Aroma of roasted light coffee, flowery hops and a touch of chocolate. Taste is full bodied, thick and creamy with little carbonation. Taste is more coffee than roasted malt compared to most other dark porters. Finish is smooth, light with a slight coffee aftertaste. robertjm (413), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Pours no head till you tilt the glass, then it froths for a short bit. very dark. Silky mouthfeel, and the coffee isn’t bitter at all. Been a long time since I’ve had Kona coffee so can’t tell you whether it trully comes out in the flavor, or not. Aroma is typical of other brews I’ve had that use real coffee. I’d probably drink it again, but I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to find it. blankboy (3250), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Bottle courtesy of fordest. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with ruby hues and an average size tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, light chocolate and light hops. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee and not much else and a lightly roasty/bitter finish -- a little dull. Average bodied. This was O.K., there’s nothing great about it but it’s easy to drink and decent enough. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a med-sized tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and a little coffee. Flavor is much the same - not as much coffee as I had expected or hoped for. The roasted malts were rather subtle. A touch on this thin and slightly watery. Not a bad brew. sloth (1678), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 13, 2007 Bottle, PKGD on 10/04/06 Small tan head that flits in an instance, lace is nil. One helluva black porter. Nose is lightly metallic with some subdued coffe notes and maybe a hint of roast and some cocoa. Body is medium,, lightly oily on the palate. The roasty coffee flavors have faded, i assume, still lingering but in small quantities. Notes of chocolate and maybe some black patent malts reside here also. Finish is lightly sweet and roasty with a little soapiness. Past its prime, i hope? Thanks to SDbruboy for the bottle. mullet (801), Melbourne, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Another one courtesy of Linc - thanks! I was pretty excited about this one, but was a bit let down. Rough, vegetal, jalapeño-tinged coffee flavour dominates throughout, drowning out some bitter chocolate notes. Somewhat dry and grainy in a good way, but the coffee thing’s just a bit too much for mine.
