Great porter, hints of chocolate blend well with the coffee flavor, nice and slow dissapting head with medium to full mouthfeel. Great session beer.

dark brown with ruby highlights under a medium sized creamy tan head. coffee dominates the aroma. flavor is also loaded with coffee, so much in fact that this almost tastes like one of those chilled coffee drinks. not bitter(and raw) tasting like many coffee style beers. i really don’t even get anything similar to beer except carbonation. now normally if it doesnt resemble beer i would hate it but i’m just really impressed with the sweetness of the coffee and the low bitterness and absence of acidity and the sweet creamy flavor. they nailed this one. it’s just awesome. never had a coffee beer this good.

This one pours a rich, chocolaty, opaque brown with a thick and fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is strong and mainly of coffee with hints of unsweetened chocolate. Roast, smoky coffee taste dominates the flavor, which has a subtle undertone of chocolate. Texture is smooth, and finish leaves a flavor of mocha.

I had this beer on tap at the brewery while I was on vacation there. This has a dark ruby color which is very similar to the Black Sand Porter that Kona makes as well. Very little sunlight is able to penetrate the glass. The aroma from the pint glass is extremely powerful. As my nose approached the glass, I was got strong dark roast coffee aromas; almost like an espresso. The espresso flavor was present as well. This beer had a very heavy coffee flavor with a hint of chocolate on the back end. I love how this medium to heavy bodied beer tastes on my tongue. This is one of my favorite Kona brews. Although the bottled beer is not made at the same brewery as the kegged beer, I would highly recommend this beer to anyone that likes robust porters.

So I just bought this beer at the Valero last night and I have to say I am very impressed. I usually prefer dark beer, but I usually keep it to Imperial Stouts. This Porter was very satisfying. It pored a nice dark color, not like the motor oil look of a stout, but once poured the glass was not translucent. Right away you get the wonderful coffee aroma from the pour. And for me the taste was almost like drinking an iced coffee, but in a very good way. It went don’t very smooth and left a clean aftertaste. Most coffee flavored porters and stouts I’ve had, have left a bitter coffee aftertaste, but not so with the Pipeline. It almost drinks like water. This is definatly my benchmark for Porters now. it is a very drinkable beer and does not leave you feeling full as if you had just eaten a loaf of bread.

12 oz bottle- Pours like most porters, only with a nice tan head, aroma has the best coffee and maybe even cappuccino smell I have ever smelled in a beer. Flavor is the same, coffee with a underlying chocolate flavor. The best porter i’ve ever had.

Even though the bottle informs you it is made with coffee, I was not prepared for how well they blended the coffee flavor and the mild molasses-like flavor of the porter. It was pretty low bodied, which is a bit out of style for porters, but it really just increased the drinkability of this beer
