| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2009 Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has a bottled on date of “091009” notched on to it and I sampled it on 11-6-09.
Appearance: It pours quite dark with a brown/black color and an average size tan head. The head hangs on well and make nice slippery lace on the glass.
Smell: The aroma is sweet like brown sugar with some roasted and toasted notes as well. Hop notes are very light and subdued.
Taste/Palate: Its flavor has mellow hints of brown sugar, roasted barley, burnt wood, and roasted coffee with cream. The finish comes quickly with some mellow spicy hops and solid dark roasted coffee notes fading off the tongue. It is a light to medium body porter with a creamy texture and lively carbonation.
Notes: This is a very tasty very sweet and easy drinking stout that would make a great session beer or breakfast beer.

Really mild aroma... hard to tell its even there when the beer is cold. However, the taste makes up for it, with a milky, but still bitter chocolate taste. Really smooth coffee taste, not like the hardcore espresso of many other porters and stouts. Moderate amount of carbonation, but that doesn’t really hurt the beer it just adds an unexpected mouthfeel. Really light, almost watery, but not really. obguthr (1053), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Draft: Charred barley nose. Clear, dark brown, thick tan head, good lacing. Chocolate flavor starts sweet and takes on a more bitter coffee character in the end. A bit watery, but a tasty porter, in its own right. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Didn’t enjoy the first sip as it was different than I was expecting but after that, really enjoyed it. Full coffee taste for sure, if you don’t enjoy coffee, probably won’t like this one bferullo (1), Maryland, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2009 I didn’t like the other beers by Kona all that much. This beer I thought had a great flavor profile with good coffee notes. It was very smooth and lightly carbonated. tilldeath (86), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Dark pour with a light tan head, expected something a little darker from this one. Aroma of roasty, nutty, and coffee. Flavor suprisingly smooth for a coffee beer, light hop bitterness, but almost no dark chocolate coffee bitter finish. Good beer, easy drinking and overall sessionable. Just a little hard to get in Colorado. chispito (19), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 6, 2009 This was not what I was expecting. I’ve had Young’s Double Chocolate and that was obviously a stout with chocolate added in. This borders on coffee with a porter added in. The body and the palate are all beer, but I tasted coffee first and foremost. I like beer for being beer, and this was a bit of a shock. Once I got past that, and decided to evaluate the beer on its own terms, I can appreciate it for how well the porter and coffee blend. Take my rating with grain of salt, I’m a green tea guy, rarely drinking coffee. Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2009 Solid porter with just the right amount of coffee. This beer has plenty going on, such as chocolate and coffee and roast and toast, but it’s also pretty easy to drink. And it’s not overly sweet like many porters.
