Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy straw gold with a thin head not much lace. Aroma is wheat- creamy light sweet a bit earthy and herbal with a good amount of a slick passion fruit juice. Flavor has some passion fruit juice as well, seems a touch slick and astringent with an ok wheat ale base, and a somewhat smooth finish.

This beer pours a hazy almost pink color. The aroma definitely had a distinct passionfruit overtone to it with some wheat there as well. The taste was actually pretty solid - not overdone as I was expecting which made this brew very easy to drink. Very refreshing and tasty. I ended up enjoying this beer a lot more than I thought I would as I am not typically a big Fruit Beer guy.

12oz bottle. Cloudy murky pale yellow color. Some subtle wheat and fruit aromas. Very light stuff but with nice fruit and wheat subtleties that capture it from the wastelands of swill. Very likable and drinkable but that same lightness is its weakness. A little too light bodied. At the same time Id gladly drink five more.

Bottle (Bottled on Apr 23 09) Poured a hazy pale with a thin white head. The aroma has wheat with a citrus backing. The flavor is much the same. Light body, slightly oily yet a lively carbonation.

Really did not like this one. Just because you can add passion fruit to beer does not mean you should. It smells of overripe, sickly sweet passion fruit with some rather unexciting wheat spice around the edges. The flavor follows through with the same theme. It seems like they made a mediocre wheat beer and then threw in some passion fruit syrup. Serve this one colder than proper or the passion fruit flavor begins to rot.

Yechhh. Couldnt finish it. It had too much of something and not enough of something else. It had some sort of bitter off taste and aroma to me. Probably it was from the passion fruit.

Ehh, nothing spectacular but I knew that going in. Easy lite drinker. Fruity. Sort of surprised this one is 5.4%. Seemed lighter than that.
