Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Not much to enjoy here, it’s not even too overly wheaty, the fruit is almost non-existent and the smell is minimal. Something went horribly wrong here.

Bottle 355ml.
Unclear hazy medium yellow color with a small, fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, wheat, citrus - lime, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Very refreshing. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (050808)

Bottle in Fort Worth. Interesting concept but did not live up to expectations. My two biggest notes were the strange aroma (it was sweet but soething else hiding in there) and it honestly tasted like watered down green tea. That’s really what it seemed like: those fruit infused green teas in a plastic bottle from TESCO.

12 oz bottle-slighty cloudy golden/yellow color w/almost no head. Sweet fruity aroma. Started out as kind of a standard wheat. but did develop some fruit flavors as it warmed. Reminded me of a watered down Leine’s Sunset Wheat. This was ok, but I wouldn’t seek it out. At least I can tick Hawaii off the list!

Hazy bright yellow with fluffy white head. Dissipating quickly to a gooey lace. Smells like pineapple syrup with a bitterness. Night blooming Jasmine flower in the background. Bland beer flavor but with the fun fruitiness to cover it. Little bit of tartness, little bit of fruitiness. Little bit of beer flavor. It seems like a Snapple flavored tea almost. It actually makes for an interesting, if not actually good, beer.

Received 12-oz bottle via trade with 5000. Pours a hazy golden pale brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of golden grain malt with wheat, a touch of tropical fruits, and some grassy hops. Taste is light to medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of light wheat malt, tropical fruit, passion fruit, some light herbs and grassy hops. Finish is a little gritty with some wheat and passion fruit aftertaste. The fruit character is not too over-powering.

Pours a pale hazy yellow with a thin frothy white head. Almost looks like a wit. The nose is lightly wheaty, has a lite fruity sweetness, herbal grassy hop character, corn. The flavor has an alright wheat character, crisp bite, fruity sweetness, a bit grainy. Has a crisp mouthfeel.

Thanks to Dansting. 12oz. bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a slightly hazy pale gold with a finger of white head. Heavy passion fruit aroma with some wheaty tang. Light bodied with a lot of passion/pineapple fruit aroma. I don’t think I would want to drink more than one of these.
