Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Bready and unpleasant american wheat beer with a hint of passion fruit in the nose. The fruit becomes more apparent with every sip any my enjoyment decreases at the same time.

12oz bottle. Pours clear, golden yellow. Thin, pure white, foamy head. Aroma is of strong smelling, rich & sweet, tropical passion fruit. The flavor has a light malt character blended with a taste of tropical fruit flavor extracts. Citrus and guava burps. Light bodied. Lots of tasty summer time flavors to make you the King of the Pool! I really like this beer.

A little hoppier than I like my wheat beer... pours a hazy amber color. Aroma is yeast and hop. Flavor is a little bitter with hops but also nice and wheaty with a little citrus and spice. 12 oz. bottle.

bottled, pours pale golden yellow with minimal head. Aroma of cheap champagne, hint of fruit and wheat. Flavor is (very) muted passion fruit with light maltiness. Some mild hops at the end. A bit lacking all around.

bottled, poured pale yellow with mild head, nothing noted on nose while pouring, mild malt with hop flavor followed by what I expect is the passion fruit, very mild residual hops on the palate, nothing special. I had to wait for it to warm up before I tasted anything.

Tap at BJ’s, Plano, TX location.
Pours a weak, thin, and uninspired yellow with an aroma of freshly made plastic and floral skunk. Flavor is undiluted passion fruit juice and plastic. Nice mouthfeel. Different, but kind of refreshing.

Sweet Hurricane aroma with some off wheat musk, especially as you first open the bottle. Lightly hazy pear gold, nice label and cap. Lightly briny, fruity, underbittered, very desperately in need of a lemon or lime. Not sweet. Medium to medium light body. No glaring flaws, except for blandness, but if you’re looking for a better wheat at a similar pricepoint, then go with Sam Adams Spring, Leinenkugel’s Sunshine or just plain old Blue Moon.
