Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

trade with daknole Plain clear golden yellow, small splotchy white head. Definatlly lots of passion fruit in the aroma at least, nice underlieing wheatiness.. Good aroma. Taste is not quite as nice as the aroma, its quite bland up until just before it goes down the throat, then there is a burst of passion fruit and lemon. Some wheat too. Its Ok on the palate, average.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham. Pours a straw yellow with a quickly dissipating head. Bitter, nutty, fruity aroma. Same in the taste... bitter fruit. Thick and syrupy texture. I might be glad I tried this one first out of my three Konas to get it out of the way.

The aroma has a strange chemical yeast strain with passion fruit, corn, yeast, and band aid. The appearance is gold with a small head. The Flavor is like the aroma with a soapy finish. The palate is watery. Overall I am not a big fan.

On tap at BJ’s Brewhouse, Plano, TX.. Poured a hazy light gold color with thin white head. Aroma was pretty nice, very fruity, bannana, citris notes. Flavor was different, have not come across this combination before....Similar to a Heff but with a somewhat very slight "fruit punch" notes.....obvious from the passion fruit. medium-high carbonation...Soft, light mouthfeel that could be percieved as watery.

Biscuity nose, with some deep passion fruit undertones clearly present. Slightly hazy, and deep gold color. Not a lot of malt, a bit tart, fruit is not terribly present. Thin, not much substance to it. By any measure, just not a very good beer unfortunately.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy pale golden with a smal white head. Aroma of citrus and spicy yeast. Taste is the same as aroma with a touch of soft wheat. Medium thin mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and a slightly tart finish. Good.
