Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

12 oz bottle. Pours a pale cloudy yellow color with a small quickly vanishing white head. It was a very strong pineapple, pear, passion fruit taste with a very nice wheat aftertaste. This is a very refreshing beer and a nice change of pace from regular beers.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Total Wine, I’m thinking this rating is from some time in 2007...

Overall Impression: Interesting flavor, a little too sweet for my liking, decent, but it’s certainly nothing to write home about.

On tap at the Peekskill Brewery. Pours a mostly clear yellow with a thin white head. Grain and wheat on the nose. Thin, mostly empty, but no big off flavors. Finishes clean, but still a bit grainy with a light citrus note.

Bottle. Poured a lightly hazy yellow color with an inch thick white head that faded to a thin layer and left some light spots of lacing. Aroma is really dominated by passion fruit, there is hardly anything else present except for a hint of wheat. Sweet, moderately prickly entry with a bit of crisp wheat that quickly transitioned into a strong fruitiness with the presence of sweet passion fruit and tangerine that linger into the finish where some light wheat reappears. High, fizzy carbonation that probably doesn’t help nuances come to the forefront. Overall, too sweet and one-dimensional for me to really enjoy.

On tap at Coles. Why did I let my rep talk me into this? Pours a pale yellow. Aromas of tropical fruit, Kiwi? Taste was fruity with an almost chapagne fizziness. Hopefully the women like it or it might be on tap for a while

draft at gingerman poured a golden in color with a thin white head. aroma is mild on the fruit, sweetness, wheat, and citrus. mouth feel is light with medium carbonation. flavor has a bit more passion fruit, sweetness, citrus, and wheat. has a bit of extract but the overall picture is refreshing and fruity. nice summer brew.

12oz bottle. Crystal clear yellow/gold. Head is only a thin ring of white. Aroma is citrusy, obviously the passionfruit. It smells like pineapple, pear. Flavors are similar, with a touch of lemon butterness. A nice summer brew that is easy to drink, but a little like soda.
