( From tasting notes dated 3/6/03)....had one of these in the Fernie hotel trekking to Vancouver on the #3....I wish this one was more widely available as it gave the best representation of a Munich dunkel we could get in Calgary before the OSB Dark was available. Poured a deep cola color with red highlights. Modest off white cap...Aroma was nearly all caramel malt with light wisps of willamette hops. Medium- light body, wet, smooth mouth feel. Toasty caramel up front, some coffee and walnut tones balanced by the NW nobles finishes faster than I’d like with a light malty sweet aftertaste. This beer is still available occasionally in draft form made for specific events and customers who sell the draft under the house name.

(Bottle) Probably the best beer thay don’t make anymore. Typical. Nice roasty flavor that is lighter than expected. Cleanly well brewed.

Aroma of malt, with a slight undertones of coffee and chocolate. Pours a very dark brown with a nice head. Quick pouring results in cascading effect. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy. Alcohol seems stronger and shows up at the end. Hops are not really evident.

This is a strange lager, great first taste, malted, slightly burnt yet still mild,,gets a little tiring after 3,drink in very small batches,or switch to something sour in between beers.

The flavour is not as dark as the colour. The initial taste disapears too quickly although the aftertaste is not unpleasant and does last a while making you want that next ounce. Not bad for Labatts.

Not my style but does have a nice roasty, toasty feeling that goes with it.
