MartinT (4307), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 3, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Biscuity pale malts and supporting wooden hops dwell levelled in a svelte, well-carbonated body. This one will be easy to forget, but it is a clean and drinkable take on the vague "Rousse" theme.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam sits atop the clear russet.
-Some caramel fruitiness comes through clearly.
-The recipe isn’t anything special, but you can’t say this pint wasn’t crafted with care.
On tap at the brewpub. beerbuzzmontreal (2697), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 1, 2007 Pours a murky amber color with a thin offwhite head. Very decent aroma of spicy hops, toasted malt and some honey sweetness. The flavor falls short though, the hops and malt feel dead and bland, what doesn’t help is that the palate is light and watery. The aroma gave nice promises but the rest didn’t follow through on those promises. Quevillon (1273), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Sep 4, 2006 Bu à la Fête Bière et saveur 06, en fut. Rousse brumeuse, un peu de collet. Arome d’houblon simple. Astringente. Goldorak (424), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 30, 2006 An opaque caramel amber ale, sporting a thick and rather fluffy head, with lots of bubbles emerging from the bottom of the glass to the top.
Sweetish cereal aromas, very subtle grassy hops, even though I was in the non-smoking section and the Beer wasn’t too cold I had trouble detecting anything.
Lightly carbonated, a little too deficient in the malt department, it was kinda watery yet still had somewhat of a decent bitterness to it, but it was more like a cooked greens kind of bitter than a hoppy one. Overall taste reminds me of homebrew kits, in the sense that it really lacks body and the yeast left that typical "homebrew" taste.
