Taste is roasted malt and caramel. Dry end. Could have a little more body. 211Skinhead (1), New Jersey, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2009 Great lingering flavor on this schwarzbeir. 500ml bottle
Pours dark black with a small tan head. Aroma of toasty nuttiness with some sweet caramel and chocolate (like a tootsie roll). Not a strong aroma, but gets better and more pronounced as the beer warms. Medium carbonation that lasts throughout the drink. Flavor is of diet English stout. Smooth with some chocolate and nuts. Not overpowering and well balanced. Very drinkable, and would order it if I were looking for something lighter than I usually like but maintaining some flavor. Aftertaste pleasantly lingers.

Persistant creamy tan head atop a cola body.
Some subtle roasted nuttiness and coffee on the nose. Continues on the body with some toffee sweetness.
Medium body and carbonation, not too dry or bitter.
Decent schwarzbier, certainly a benchmark. TizzleJizzle (67), Garland, Texas, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 18, 2009 Aroma of skunky roasted malt. It poured a very appealing dark brown/light black color with great head retention. It didn’t taste as good as it looked however. Initial taste of rice and hay with a bitter after taste. Lingering nastiness. Overall, I can’t say I’d recommend this to anyone as there are far better schwarzbiers out there. Toxygen (366), Sanford, Florida, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Nearly black with ruby highlights. A slight tan head develops but disappears quickly. Interesting aroma of coffee, chocolate, and vegetables. Medium bodied, fairly lively. I’m not quite sold on the flavor. It starts pretty good with coffee, bitter chocolate, and chicory. The finish is a bit of a disappointment. A touch of smoke but an aftertaste of ash. Not a bad beer.
