ako (122), Turku, Finland Nov 28, 2007 Draught, served very cold.
Dark red, small tan head. Aroma was very faint, hints of spice, especially clove, no maltiness to speak of. Flavor was very alike, light, not too sweet with malt and some nice warming spicyness. Finish was lacking that little something, couldn’t really find the hoppy bitterness anywhere. Would be interesting to re-taste this a little warmer. mabjork (576), Vasa, Finland Nov 23, 2006 Draught@Skolan. Dark Red/brown in colour. Minor beige head, lacings. The aroma is kardamin and sweet malt. The flavour is malty, kinda dry with a hint of alcohol. rsmeds (183), Turku, Finland Dec 19, 2005 Draught. Very dark cola colour, with small beige foamy head.
Sweet, somewhat spicy aroma of red apples, yeast, hops and cloves.
Hoppy, yeasty flavor, with some malty sweetness and a hint of sweet fruit and caramel.
Bitterish alcoholic aftertaste.
Smooth creamy palate, low carbonation.
Body rather light. A simple but pleasant drink. Very typical Koulu. oh6gdx (5857), Vaasa, Finland Dec 5, 2005 Draught. Dark amberish black colour, small beige foamy head. Weak spicy and caramellish malty aroma. Flavour is quite spiced and caramellish, with a bit hops in the finnish. Quite pleasant. Still there’s some "typical" kouluish notes in both aroma and flavour, especially as the beer got a bit warmer these notes came through clearer. sayravai (3045), Helsinki, Finland Dec 3, 2005 (Draught) Dark, clear cola color with almost no head. Mild, reasonably malty but clove-spicy aroma. Some toffeeish maltiness in the flavor, a bit harsh. Light to medium-bodied, slightly sticky, fizzy and palate. A not very convincing, lemonadey and lightly spicy brew.
