raymondwave (778), Finland Aug 9, 2008 Tap at Koulu. Copper with thick off white / even beigish lacing head. Nose is syrupy, buttery, malty, full and sweet. Flavor is sweetish, malty, syrupy, a bit toasted bread, even hoppiness and some butterness to round it up. I was told it’s a bitter, but could be vienna too. Nothing summerlike in this, but fairly musty, non-refreshing, full wintery beer to me. Good and tasty. austone (305), Turku; Pori, Finland Jun 14, 2008 Draught @ brewpub. Clear copper w/ quite thick pale head. Mildly malty and syrupy nose. Some banana spiciness. Toasty maltiness, little spices and hops in the flavor. Clean and simple, like all Koulu brews I’ve had. ako (122), Turku, Finland Dec 7, 2007 Amber. Sweet and malty aroma turns into quite bitter hoppiness in the flavor. Not especially summery. spporras (260), Finland Jun 13, 2007 (Draught@Black Door, Helsinki) Malty and slightly hoppy aroma. Amber colour, clear and average size, white head with fair lacing. Malty, slightly toffee and slightly acidic flavour. Light to medium-bodied, softly carbonated and slightly metallic palate. Nothing special! 12/06/07 Miksu (1244), Jyväskylä, Finland Jul 15, 2006 Draught at Koulu. Amber color, small head. Sweet malty aroma (munchener malt). Sweet and fresh toasted malt aroma. Toastiness grows towards finnish along with mild herbal and bitter hop character. Too sweet, good fresh malt character though.
