This has all of the nice aromas and flavours as the filtered version, but with a fruity and slightly yeasty touch. The lack of filtration also makes it slightly softer. A fantastic beer, but the cleaner filtered version is even better. Ernest (4501), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy light amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread/grain), lightly yeasty (dough), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, orange), with a note of honey.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Pretty similar to the filtered, just with a touch more yeast character and sourness. Thankfully that dullish sour tang isn’t as marked in this beer as it was in many other cases, but it does make it a bit less enjoyable for my tastes. Still, a terrific beer. pivnizub (5086), Bochum, Porúří, Germany

Very good B.P., but not so impressive as the filtered version............ mullet (801), Melbourne, Australia

Fantastic head on this one - notes say "looks like a kvasnicovy" strangely enough. The same resiny hop aroma as in all the pale Kout beers but accompanied by more peachy/apricoty malt in this one. Solid malt flavour with excellent fruitiness and hop flavour. Bitterness is relatively low, and it’s relatively light on the sulfury yeast stuff for a kvasnicovy. Very nice beer, but this is one of the few kvasnicovys in the CR which I liked less than the filtered version, but I guess that’s because the filtered 12% is so freaking good. Sehr gut ausgeglichener, ansprechend würziger und herb motivierter Geschmack. Sanft karamellige Art, die in die unheimlich gute Komposition wirklich exakt reinpasst. Deutlich würzigerer Mittelteil mit leicht süsslichem Inferno. Angenehm herber und langanhaltender Geschmack im Abgang. Genial! gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2007 on tap at koutland. for quite a while i couldn’t get too excited about this beer which was quite odd considering how obsessed i’ve become with kvasnicovy beers and with kout beers. anyways, i think it must have improved appreciably. the first few kegs of this had a decent saaz nose but quite an overwhelming sourdough character which dulled the juicy bitterness of the filtered 12ká. anzways, a balance seems to have been found and this is ripe and pungent with traces of pineapple, lemon zest and a big saaz kick that, as with the other kout beers, reminds me just how little saaz character a lot of czech beers have these days.
