Commercial Description:
1664 Fleur de Houblon is brewed using the Strisselspalt hop, widely regarded as one of the finest in the world. To allow this exceptional hop to reveal all its full range of aromas, hop flowers are added during the brewing process. The end product is a beer that strikes a perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness, with aromas of green hops and citrus fruit and notes of yellow fruit, malt and honey. Dense and smooth, with subtly-expressed fizz, 1664 Fleur de Houblon is rich in aromas, brought out by the addition of hop flowers. The perfect beer for enjoying for its own sake.

The 1664 with some added hops and they do indeed make a difference. I am not all that well informed about this hop but it is a leasant one to taste. all te hallmarks of a well presented lager euro style with the benefit of the added hopkick.

Bottled. Pale golden, creamy head. Grassy aroma. Sweet and sugary with clean maltiness. Medium bodied and quite hoppy with a hop aromatic finish and just a trace of bitterness.

Pale gold colour. Supposedly made with fresh hop flowers, presumably to give it a little more zing than the normal 1664. Very slight hints of malt on the nose, but, although there is some hop character, it lacks the attack I would expect from a good helping of fresh hops. I'm not sure about the claims of Strisselsplat being one of the best hops i the world on the label. Perhaps there is a little more character than the standard 1664 product, but it is very subtle - still blond and bland. Bottled, France, December 2003.

Light hops. Bit woody. Low malts. Light golden amber clear with little head. Light-medium body & medium carb. Bad taste. Bitter but not pleasant. Chemical. Low malts. Nutty after. I like hoppy beers but this sucks.

Plain lager appearance with little energy in the glass. Hardly any aroma, although it is generally dry. The flavour is quite hopped and dry. Overall a plain lager with very little energy about it.

brewed using exclusively Strisselpalt hops - clear golden colour, few head, fruity and honeyish aroma, sweet with a late, light bitterness - easy but pleasant
