Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Also ratings of the Swedish 3.5% ABV version should be entered here.
Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

500ml can shared at a gathering in Tromsř - very fine as a partner to herring food. Pours a nice mahogany body under a fluffy, off-white head. Roasted caramel malts to the nose. Ditto taste with a dry ending. Easy to drink (21.10.2008).

I hated this one. No character, no malt, nothing. The beer that was not there.

500ml brown bottle. Dark brown colour with caramel coloured highlights. Creamy and rocky tan head, sticky lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasty malt. Flavour is roasted malts, nutty and dark chocolate notes, hay/straw hop notes. Trace bittereness and mineral taste in the finish. Soft bodied, mild carbonation.

bottle. fizzy carbonation on the pour (probably a bad sign). dark brown with a fizzy tan head. aroma is sweet malts and a touch of roasty chocolate. taste is light caramel malt followed up with a bit of smokiness. a little thin and a bit of an acidic aftertaste. don’t have a lot of schwarzbier experience to compare it to at this point.

I was rather surprised by the appearance and taste of this. Almost black and the taste is very stouty. Fairly bitter and dry and hints of coffe. Plenty of taste for such a low strength.

On draught at Plachetnice Plzen. An almost black colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma of caramel and a little bit chocolate, there are malts and fruits. The taste of little coffee, dry and fruits like raisins. It has a light bitter aftertaste.
