Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Pours a dark reddish brown color. Aromas of roasted malts, bits of chocolate and coffee. Flavor has a nice bitter roast taste and a touch of hops on the finish.

Draught (Svejki Juures, Tallinn). Dark brown in colour with a tan head. Malty aroma with a bit of sweet coffee. Roasted taste with a hint of smoked ham and coffee along with some aniseed. Not bad although I could imagine it becoming rather sickly after a while.

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Similar flavors with some sweet caramel and grain. A good overall brew, though a bit thin on the palate. Refreshing.

500mL bottle shared with Illini08 and nimrod. I am embarrassed that this beer came out of my refrigerator. Poured a pretty mahogony color with a small white head that disappeared very quickly. This beers look was by far its best quality. The aroma was almostcompletely absent. The little that was there consisted of malt. The taste was also very bland. It had the consistency of water and I actually tasted a lot of spring water along with a little bit of malt. This beer did not necessarilly taste bad, there was just absolutely nothing going on with it.

500 mL bottle (born on date 25. April 2007). split 3 ways. Mahogany colored pour with a small off-white head. Almost no aroma. What was there was light caramel malt and maybe some smoke. Flavor was similar. Very watery and uninteresting. Nothing offensive about it though.

Shared with General66 and illini08; thanks Bobby?? Poured mahogany red with small head. Very bland, watered down taste with some caramel malt and roasted aromas. This beer was extremely bland.

Dark brown almost black with medium head. Love the slightly smokey and coffee taste while it stays very refreshing and drinkable. Slight metallic bitterness in the finish is the main drawback. Just enough sweetness. It isn’t going to blow you away, but I’m a big fan. Every beer doesn’t have to be so big as too blow your mind. Well made and enjoyable.

On tap, poured deep brown with a finger thick off white head. Nose was medicine sweet and malt. The flavor was a bit smokey, but also with the medicinal malt sweetness. Sweet, smooth finish was the highlight of this beer.
