1/2 liter bottle
Moderate pour in a weizen glass.
Brewed 11/06, absorbed 06/07
Poured a clear ruddy brown with a large frothy mostly lasting beige head with good lacing.
Smelt of moderate toasted light bread and caramel, with a light metallic/mineral smell.
Flavor was upfront light moderately bitter and toasted rye bread followed by a moderate bittersweet caramel and sugary green hops on a moderate finish.
Palate was upfront light bodied, slightly oily, lively carbonated and lightly astringent and metallic.
Overall, this is somewhat disappointing for a Schwarzbier, but enjoyable nonetheless. I really was expecting a little bit more though. Tastes like metal too. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA

A mild, roasty malt nose with a hint of iron. Nice creamy mouth feel. Somewhat mild yet has a decent roasted malt character that gives off a hint of raisin-like sweetness with a balancing hint of coffeeish roast. Finish is mildly bitter with a metallic hint. Bland, but balanced and sessionable. coldbrewky (727), Saugerties, New York, USA

Pleasant nose of smoke and light fruit. Served in stem glass. Head is large and healthy, settles slowly. This beer does not overpower but complement the meal. Appearance is a shot in the dark due to the poor lighting at the "Forever bar" (the food was cheap) . Bottle from Slob with matching glassware appears from nowhere on doorstep. A nice charcoal-like smokiness is hidden below the malt. Up 0.1 from first impression. Go slob go.

Mild raisin and malt aroma and very little else that stands out. The body is a ruby hued black and holds a diminishing, pinky sized off white head. The mouthfeel is light, almost delicate with malt, raisin and mild chocolate notes. Finish is sweet and watery. Very subdued toast notes in the aftertaste. Easy drinking and nothing alarmingly negative about it for the style though it seemsto lean toward the chocolate flavor more than a Schwarz should. Still decent enough.
