Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Also ratings of the Swedish 3.5% ABV version should be entered here.
Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Dark brown color with fine head. This is a very watery schwarzbier with almost no taste. But okay its ABV is like a light beer.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with a large light brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with lively carbonation. Medium sweet roasted flavor with a medium sweet finish of short duration.

A Mes rate: Smokey roasted malt and barley nose with some slight barnyard too. Great appearance. Once of the darkest bodies I have seen. Slight egg in the flavour but with lots of roasty coffee and caramel plus slight notes of straw. Finish is treacle toffee then coffee and very clean. Only thing that really lets it down is the thin mouthfeel.

Draught. Mild caramelly darkness. Drikable and refreshing but without the character to make it a worthwhile drink.

Pours a brown colour, with a dense head decent lacing. Toasted malt and chocolate aroma with some hops. Starts off with nice malt flavour of chocolate and bread and then gets sweet before having a dry bitter finish.

Very dark chocolate color but not biter at all, it was actually very watery for my taste although it has a beautiful crown.

The body is a very dark brown with a medium khaki colored head. The aroma is sweetened coffee with some molasses. The taste has some lightly roasted coffee with some bread crust. There is also a hint of unsalted roasted peanut shells. This is a light bodied beer that I like more than many of the European made Schwarzbiers I have had before. Those were too sweet. This is more balanced with some roast and the sweetness is reasonable.

Poured a dark brown to black color, some red hues when held to light. Head was nice and had decent retention, no special lacing. The aroma was grainy with some light roast and a touch of bubblegum. Flavor was licorice, light coffee roast, light bubblegum, light nuts, some bready/cardboardy notes, as well. Mouthfeel was moderate to light for the style and the finish was dry with a lightly sweet touch in the aftertaste.
