The aroma is sweetened coffee with some molasses. The taste has some lightly roasted coffee with some bread crust. There is also a hint of unsalted roasted peanut shells. This is a light bodied beer that I like more than many of the European made Schwarzbiers I have had before. Those were too sweet. This is more balanced with some roast and the sweetness is reasonable. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 24, 2006 Poured a dark brown to black color, some red hues when held to light. Head was nice and had decent retention, no special lacing. The aroma was grainy with some light roast and a touch of bubblegum. Flavor was licorice, light coffee roast, light bubblegum, light nuts, some bready/cardboardy notes, as well. Mouthfeel was moderate to light for the style and the finish was dry with a lightly sweet touch in the aftertaste. wxman (588), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA

Smooth delicious taste of maple syrup, caramel, and mocha with the slightest hop bitterness. Very little aftertaste. A well above average brew. Suttree (2742), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Bottle from Super Saver. Dark brown pour with 2-finger brown head. Aroma of rpast malt, some rauch, chocoff, and a hint of urethane. Tastes roasty malty, a bit rauchy, with finishing notes of chocolate and tart cherries. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 7, 2006 Pours dark amber in color with virtually no head. I smell just a little bit of yeast and the lightest hint of malt in the aroma and nothing else. It has a light caramel flavor from the malt, slightly dryer grain malt and just a small amount of hops. It is light in body and is also a little watery. Overall the flavor is on the light side for a Swarzbeir compare to some I’ve tried in Germany. Maybe the bottle states it is a light beer in Czech and I just can’t read it. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 5, 2006 500ml bottle. Dark with a brown tint. Rocky bone white head. Cocoa and vanilla in the nose. Medium bodied with chocolate and vanilla malt flavors. Toasty. kimcgolf (835), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2006 Pours to an opaque dark brown with just a hint of ruby, and thick tan head that shrinks quickly to fair lacing. Try as I might, it was difficult to detect much of any aroma at all. Although body was thin and slightly watery, there was a nice chocolate-caramel flavor with a hint of malty sweetness. Finish was smooth and fairly long lasting. I just picked this up on a whim....glad I did. Not a bad beer at all.
