Editor's note: Also ratings of the Swedish 3.5% ABV version should be entered here.
Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Bought in Germany, apparently no artificial sweeteners in this version? A dark brown colour with a stable off-white head. Fine roasted malt, nougat aroma. The flavour gives a dark chocolate and nutty impression. This leaves a rather unpleasant "sticky" aftertaste, although it’s fairly dry. Unfortunately watery and light-flavoured.

Reddish-brown pour with light tan head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Crisp flavor-little sweetness, somewhat dry, roasted malt flavor at the end. I did not care to read that artificial sweetners were part of the ingrediants. Lacing occured.

Bottle; poured a dark brown color with a light brown head. Lively pour from the bottle; a nice pop when the cap was opened. Aroma of roasted malt, almost smoky, with a bit of chalk, coffee and cocoa. Enjoyable aroma. Flavor was not quite as good; pretty minerally, metallic and watery. Some cocoa, roasted malt and chalk. Easy to drink, but almost too watery.

Bottle from Rhythm & Booze in Barton. Deep Brown, initial beige head quickly dissipating, gentle condition. Sweet in the nose with a strange aroma of beef stock and coffee, quite soft in the mouth with more sweetness that has a slightly roasted edge and a touch of iron, finish is gently roasted with some earthiness and a low sweet toffee note

.5l bottle. Wow, I really enjoyed this one. Coffee and malt smell. Really black look with a tan head. Lacing was above average. Tasted smokey, coffee, bitter caramel, some brown sugar?? and a aftertaste I can’t place but is different and pleasurable.
