May 26, 2009 Updated: May 27, 2009Bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a deep coffee brown with a creamy beige head. Nose of roasted malts, light coffee, some metallic notes. Flavor is very similar to the nose containing some metallic’s and roasted malts, fairly dry and crisp finish.

May 16, 2009 Bottle… Pours black with ruby highlights and a large, fluffy, off-white head. Fantastic, tight, creamy retention. Smoky, espresso and chocolate aroma. Light-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and minimal carbonation. The flavor is a touch sweet, acrid and smoky. Crisp, very lightly bitter finish.

May 15, 2009 Pours cola colored - medium brown and translucent, with light tan head. Nose is roasty but rather tame. Light coffee taste, very drinkable, and a rather inoffensive beer. Could be a nice gateway beer for people apprehensive about dark beers.

May 11, 2009 330ml bottle. Poured a rich deep black in colour with a thin to medium tan head. Bubbles cling to the glass from the top to the bottom. Aroma of smoked almonds with a smoke flavour that was thin and bitter. Thin texture and medium body with a taste that lingers.

May 8, 2009 Bottle from The Beer Authority, poured a dark, rich mahogany color with a thin head. Nice lacing and a nutty malt flavor. Effervescent on the palate, this is an excellent scharz.

Apr 20, 2009 Sample at the Total Wine Beerfest, Jacksonville FL 4-18-2009. Brown beer with a medium head. Aroma of caramel and hops. Flavor was a bit thin with caramel and roasty coffee. Not bad.

Apr 19, 2009 Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks! Pours brown with a light beige head. Smell is sticky and sweet caramel. Taste is thin dark caramel and a bit sweet and yeasty. Medium to thin body and normal carbonation. Didn’t care for this one.
