Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

From bottle, dark brown with larage beige head that leaves a nice lacing, aroma of malt caramel and some clove notes, malty flavor but not too complex, hoppy finish. OK

bottle, pours dark brown with red hints, tall tan head. Light mild hop aroma. Light mouth some roasted dark malt leading to a dry bitter finish.

Mahogany with a thin tan topper. Aroma of smoked something, perhaps liquid smoke, malt and licorice. Taste of smoked meat, mild caramel, black licorice and mild chocolate. Not too bad, but kind of thin, but then I guess when the alcohol clocks in at 3.8%, you really can’t expect a whole lot in terms of body and taste.

500 ml bottle purchased at Food Emporium in Everett, WA. Pours a dark brown with a dark cream-colored head. Flavor: Sweet & malty, and it kind of reminds me of Guinness. (It sounds a little crazy, oh well.)

0,5l can. Dark red, almost black color.Thick almost white head. Aroma has sweet rye malts, little bit metal. Flavor is lightly roasted, chocolate, end is slightly bitter, watery and also some metal. Easy to drink, palate somewhat oily.

Slightly on the dunkel side of a Schwarzbier. Smooth dark lager with some roasty highlights. Notes of chocolate, caramel, toast, earth and bread. Medium mouthfeel, slightly slight, and a clean, slightly sweet finish.

Small head and dark black. Nuts and sweetness with hints of caramel. Not that great.

300ml glass, TV Tower Restaurant, Prague. Doesn’t look all that good, as it is a dark, murky brown in colour, although it does have a firm and tightly-packed head. It isn’t strongly carbonated. There is a slight hint of bitterness, but it is dominated by a smooth malt flavour and texture. Quite a pleasant beer.
