Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Also ratings of the Swedish 3.5% ABV version should be entered here.
Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

This is a nice thick dark beer with a fantastic sweet and malty flavor and a thick and creamy head of foam.

Nice dark color with a nice head & a sweet aftertaste. Slightly bitter at first but that disappears quickly. Good with foods.

a dry old wallpaper aroma, coca cola like appearance, very watery palate, coffe and mocha hints, a little licquorice hint.. very bad, and I kid you not, it smells the same as the 30 year old wallpaper here in my library room .. I´m glad I didnt buy a 4-pack of this (re-rate) aus den fass: stunning looks, dark red or black, with a very firm head, very smokey aroma, some nuts, caramel, very complex. Taste is very good, rusted nuts, coffe, like a very light imperial stout, extremely good an far from that awful bottle I tasted in Iceland, note: the bar classifies this as Schwarzbier

Bottle. Clear, dark garnet color with a creamy ivory head. Warn toasty aroma with tea and caramel notes. Somkey and roasty with a brown sugar note (without the sweetness). A very nice schwarzbier. Roasted dry finish.

Aroma is strong, malty, and mouth-watering. It pours a dark reddish-brown, almost the color of cola, with a thick, tan head that does not stay for long. Flavor is malty with a hint of burnt coffee and a little hop bitterness. This beer is velvety smooth and pleasant to drink, best by itself.

Draught in Prague, called Krusovice Vycepni Tmavé on the menu, but must be the same beer. Black (= very dark brown) colour, large head. Lovely malty aroma with strong elements of leather and cigarbox. Pleasant flavour of roasted malts, some caramel but not too sweet, very well balanced with the hops. For the style freaks: This is a Schwarzbier IMO, not a dunkel - but who cares, as long as the beer tastes good? I’d think the ABV was stronger than it actually is - another evidence that flavour and strength are not necessarily the same thing. Great with food or on its own. A truly enjoyable beer. Rerate bottle: I just realised I had written separate notes of the BOTTLED beer named Krusovice Cerne - I could SWEAR it was a different beer from the draught Vycepni Tmave. Notes bottle: Deep reddish brown colour. Large tan head, moderate carbonation. Moderate malty aroma. Typical dunkel flavour with low bitterness. Relatively light bodied, refreshing. Overall 13/20.

Bottle from friend in Deutschland. Brown color, large tannish head. Aroma is roasty and a tad sweet. Flavor is roasty and sweet, with a burnt flavor of caramel and chocolate. Very good beer.
