Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Bottle from The Beer Authority, poured a dark, rich mahogany color with a thin head. Nice lacing and a nutty malt flavor. Effervescent on the palate, this is an excellent scharz.

500ml bottle. Pretty attractive appearance-wise, deep brown-amber color with a massive soapy. Sweet malt and classic Noble hops aroma. Lot caramel flavor, with a watery mouthfeel. The hops are very minimal and downplayed, but that works alright for the style. Not unlike a Dunkel in most respects, with some sweet chocolate pungency. A little mellowed out, but that could also be from being on the shelves/warehouses too long. Pleasant enough, but rather simple and unexceptional.

500ml bottle. Almost black, beige head that was big then almost vanished. Coffee and chocolate nose, maybe some nuts and licorice too. Thin body. Some roasty malts and cocoa. Nutty dry finish.

500ml bottle. Black body withj amber highlights, small offwhite head. Prominant roasted malt aroma; freshly roasted coffee bean, cocoa and cola. Lean body, reasonably low carbonation, moderate dry roast astrigency. Cola and roasted nut flavours on the body. Notes of espresso and rye bread linger on a slightly bitter finish. Light bodied yet nicely flavoured and approachable black lager.

0.5 l bottle. Deep brown colour with a sting of red. Nice pale brown head, which remains creamy, soft carbonation. Light roasty, caramell smell. Taste is a rather sour and sweet-watery mixture, body is medium. Flavour’s sweet and roasted coffeebeens-liked, some hops’ hiding, too. Finish is coffeebitter, which lasts long. Passes somehow, but it’s not the real for me...

Bottle. Poured a clear deep wooden brown with a medium light brown head. Aroma was one note with caramel malts. The flavor was eerily similar to the aroma. Quite boring.
