Pours a slightly pale, clear golden with a medium, frothy, white head. Aroma is grassy, good Saaz character and a fairmaltiness behind it - perhaps it feels a bit too sweet. Fair, though a little light mouthfeel with quite low carbonation. Flavour is quite sweet, slightly metallic, some hops, but there should have been much more of it. dornoy (681), Lyngby, Denmark

This stuff may have a different name in Europe, but in America I purchased a half-liter bottle with the above name on the label. It called itself a lager, but tasted like a pilsner. The attractrive gold foil label announces this beer’s winning of a gold medal in Prague in 1891. We’ll see if things have changed since then. There is also a big crown on the label - could this be the true king of beers? It pours with a big, cratered head. At first, there is a pleasant, medium-light aroma of floral hops and yeast, but it decays into a skanky smell after a few minutes. It tastes pretty good - crisp, and well-endowed with Saaz hops, bittered just right in the finish. Fairly dry and a little astringent, but not thin. This is a solid Czech brew that called to mind Pilsner Urquell. ľ (4999), Colorado, USA

Nose of minerally, dry yeast, light perfume and cobwebs. Flavor is full bodied but light on the palate, crisp and dry and bitter Saaz hop bitterness, drying in the finish. Wonderful beer. If this is below a 3.2 for you then you’re either drinking old bottles or you have mental issues. beerguy101 (3920), Newark, California, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 12, 2008 This Pilsner pours a light gold color from a 33cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal and grain with some spicy hops. A medium bodied Pilsner. The malts are cereal and grainy. The hops are slightly spicy and a touch floral. Lots of carbonation, perhaps a bit too much. No bad off flavors. Interesting, drinkable, but sort of average. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
