Draught pint at Redbones on 4/6/07
Rapidly failing, thin white head atop a clear, bubbly yellow-golden body.
Fairly similar to the lightning pils I just had, this one smells of extremely muted saaz hops, giving some light nuttiness and dry, yellow grass. Plenty of spring water and light minerals, with a doughy, slightly toasty maltiness that is rather weakly represented, though the aroma as a whole is pretty weak. Perhaps a touch of lagering flaws, some acetyldehyde most prominently (though it’s still subtle). Really the problem is the rather soggy maltiness and almost zero hop flavor. I suppose it’s not even the hop problem, but just the malt and lack of much crispness. Carbonation is extremely obnoxious up front, fading quickly to become too loose. No alcohol noted. Not much of a bohemian pils and slightly too sweet, to boot.

Draught in Moscow, golden with a white pillowly head. A strong grassy hop aroma with a touch of malt. A surprising flavour of sweet malt, not too much of a hop presence until the end. A moderate dryness and bitterness on the palate.

Can. Golden colour with an average white head. Aroma is malty with cereals and also a plastic note. Malty flavour with a foul bitterness. Quite high carbonation.

Poured this one out from a large bottle, had a full gold color with an amber tint, and a big, white foamy head. It was a very clear beer with noticeable small bubbles. The aroma was of pine hops, with a touch of citrus, and some grassy/grainy hops too; maybe some barley malt. The taste was very sour, with some bitterness too, and maybe a touch of sweetness at the end; mostly dry throughout. Average carbonation with some fizzyness, but a thin and oily texture.

can, 0.5l light golden color, large thick head leaving little lacing behind. Alcohol comes through too much, grassy aroma. Disappoitment compared to some other Czezh bier.
