Commercial Description:
(translated from the czech label): Jubilee Lager is an extra bitter Lager brewed with the help of the historical recipes of the Krusovice brewmasters. Typical are the pleasant lingering bitterness, the amber colour and the full malty flavour

What to say? Solid beer. I find it hard to get expansive about these styles. Good drinking but not extraordinary. Beautifully clean looking with a thick white head and light copper coloured head. Old fashioned flavours of daggy malts and bitter hops of medium strength. Not a particularly fresh bottle and it shows here.

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
-------- /> How: Tap at Plachetnice, Pilsen, Czech Republic)
The look: Clear golden body with a medium white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: As above but overall more bland and a carbonation too aggressive for its frail body.

Bottle from Tesco in Prague. About the only thing this beer has going for it is the appearance. Pours a lovely shade of dark amber with some minimal spritzy head, mostly coppery nose, some toffee and herbs, rather thin palate, rye bread, earl gray tea bitterness in the finish. Meh.

Bottle. Clear golden colour with a medium creamy white head and a good lacing. Aroma and taste of malts and grassy hops. Nice bitter finish.

Beautiful amber colour with large head. On the label it says extra horky, it is meant to be extra bitter. I think it is not bitter, it is a lovelly malty and full-bodied lager with slightly dray and hopy finish.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour leaning in the amber direction, firm white head. Malty nose with notes of herbal hops and slightly toasty hints. Malty, herbal taste with lightly roasted caramel notes and grassy hops in a fairly dry finish. Not really exciting, but still enjoyable.

Draught at Haket. Looks, smells and tastes like czech pilsner. Loads of diacetyl. Dry and grassy hoppiness. Clear golden with a huge, beautiful head.
