Commercial Description:
Loyal followers of choc know of my grandfather Pietro Piegari and his truly American success story. We share today the untold part of my family heritage in our new "Kuehner Weisse", named for my mother’s father who was a german immigrant who traveled through Ellis Island to know success as an innkeeper in Oklahoma. We wanted a beer to honor my mother’s heritage, a real German Hefeweizen, or Weissebier, as the Germans say. Doug Moller, a longitime family friend and brewer was just the person to call for brewing expertise for this special brew. We know from past experience Doug makes a wonderful Weissebier and wanted him to be a part of our attempt to honor the Kuehner family. Here at choc Beer Company we’re big on wheat brews. Choc 1919 is an American wheat. Waving Wheat a Belgium wheat and now this, our true German-style offering. As you enjoy this brew, maybe pause a moment to think on prior generations that traveled hard roads from far away lands to become known as Americans. Many of who would have yearned for something very similar to this beer so far from home. Thanks, Joe

Bottle thanks to Soonah, shared with the Dallas crew. Pours with a foamy, off-white head and a hazy orange body. Aroma of brown sugar, bubble gum, orange and acetaldehyde. Taste is wheat, orange and an astringent yeast quality that seems to dominate many Krebs/Choc beers. Light and fizzy.

Deep hazy amber and copper coloured body with a non-existant tan head and no movement at all in the body - odd! Aroma of pears, apples, wheat, yeast and a bit of toffee - a bit sweet, but not much else coming through. Assertive effervescence with some light acidic tastes of apples and some yeast coming through, but hardly any wheat or malt, no hops and almost no sugars. A VERY mild aftertaste with nothing but bubbles in the mouth and a bit of sour dryness - an odd beer to say the least. Overall, a pretty funky beer - and more of a flemish sour/gueuze blend than any style of wheat. Interesting to try if you like odd beers and if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Freeman’s Liquor in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 05-May-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 11-May-2009.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a cloudy gold with white head. Aroma of citris/lemon, no signs of banana or clove. Taste of some wheat malt and lemon. Light body, high carbonation, kinda watery. Overall, would make a decent basic summer wheat beer....also in comment from what ericandersnavy said, 3 other people in the house did not smell banana or clove either....
