Flavor was sticky sweet, tangerines, ripe mangos, not a ton of bitterness, just a lot of tasty fruity goodness. I really enjoyed this one. Glouglouburp (2839), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Entering my rating here. Beer drank at the brewpub may 2008 under the name “American IPA”. I assume it is the same beer as this “American Extreme IPA”.
In short: A tasty IPA. Strong caramelized malt backbone, lots of fruity hops.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: clear copper body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose of fruity hops and caramel. This is a well malted beer with rich caramel and earthy notes. Well balanced by a heavy dosage of fruity hops. Lots of citrus flavour with some grapefruits. This is a standard but superior American style IPA. Funny that this is about the only Kuhnhenn beer that shouldn’t have the word Extreme in its name. Or maybe we should interpret Kuhnhenn’s naming and assume it means the opposite… Kuhnhenn is a woman? tomaroth (31), Troy, Michigan, USA

tasted again at winter solstice 08...apricot brown pour and extremely cloudy. huge tropical fruit and mango aroma bursting from the glass. everlasting flavor huge on tropical fruit and papaya. sweeter towards the middle and lingers on the tongue. slightly bitter finish. this def tasted different to me than last year. Poured a hazy copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Heavy hoppy citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Moderate hoppy citrus flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. Good brew.
