Commercial Description:
An American example of an English style of beer made for the Russian Royals. This ale deep black in color, finally released after being aged for 16 months. Made using large amounts of malt and roasted barley yields the most robust beer we make. Thick coffee like flavor and aroma. This beer is well hopped and finishes bitter. This is a real treat

Bottled. Opaque dark black. Aroma of anise and licorice. Sweet and thick like oil. Very full bodied. Flavourwise it’s like chocolate cake covered in cocoa and tar with a punch of liqueur. Complex, but too covered in syrup.

My first new Kuhnhenn since they became famous. Extra thick dark brown. No carbonation and no head. Rich, fudgey, roasty and slightly soapy aroma. Ultra thick, flat body. Very unique blackberry accent amidst all the big malts and subtle roast. Fun beer. Wish I took better notes - there was much more going on I haven’t written about.

(12oz bottle, thanks artusory) Black body with brown edges, minimal tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, some coffee, caramel, light burnt. Taste is sweet, coffee/roast, cocoa, some caramel. Full body, low carbonation.

12oz, wax dipped, bottle acquired in trade with badbeer (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with a small sized brown head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, coffee, some dark fruits, and I"m getting a little woodiness. Tastes of dark fruits (more than the aromas and included raisins, prunes, and cherries), chocolate, roast, and coffee. Smooth and creamy body with the alcohol well hidden. Kuhnhenn beers can go either way, and this one was pretty darn good. My 5 year old smelled this and said it smelled like pineapples mixed with sweet patatoes...

Draft... This beer rocks! ... Pitch black ale with a creamy, brown head. Decent retention. The aroma and flavor are a medley of blackstrap molasses, dried plums, dark chocolate, espresso beans and black cherries. The heavy, burnt bitterness almost pounds the malt sweetness into submission. Boozy, but not necessarily hot. Full-bodied with a thick, velvety mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, bittersweet finish. World class stout!

(Bottle) Pours a opaque, oily black body with a spare brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, and wood with a smooth, silky (dessert-like) mouthfeel that finishes somewhat dry.

Pours an oily viscous opaque with a thin, wispy-lacing dark brown head. Aroma abounds with lots of sweet dark sticky caramel with plenty of complex dark chocolate with a touch of plums. Body starts sweet and viscous with some earthy dark chocolate and caramel flavor with a lot of dark fruity complexity. Finishes drier with plenty of caramely dark chocolate sweetness and nice balance with a touch of warmth toward a very thick finish. This reminds me a lot of Dark Lord.
