| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2009 A- Pours a deep, ruddy, reddish hue with little to no head.
S- Smell is very enticing ... huge brown sugar notes, very sweet, a range of fruit from muddled berries to raisins.
T- Taste follows the smell, sweet candied fruits towards the begining that only get sweeter throughout the life of the taste. Brown sugar followed by deep, dark fruit underlies the aforementioned sweetness.
M- Thick with some carbonation left.
D- I like this beer a lot but I think it loses something without the bourbon character. I wish I tried this one before the bourbon barleywine. The main trouble with it is that the bourbon balanced out the sweetness and in this incarnation the sweet fruit notes are left unchecked and amp up so high at the end they become cloying in this extremely rich brew. That being said I still enjoyed this one very much.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 2006 bottle. Poured hazy medium orange with just a brief prickly initial indication of off-white head. The aroma picked up rich brown sugar and caramel amplified by dark fruity notes and alcohol warmth.. there was a deeply-rooted indication of sourness. The flavor had syrupy dark berries, caramel, and toffee at the core with sour fruit and oaky notes on the edges.. finished strong and rather well-balanced between the sweetness and sourness. Heavier-bodied and a tad too strong and sour on the palate for my liking.. grainy residual sugars stuck with alcohol warmth on the finish.. really warmed up the belly. This was either slightly infected or too old, but it was definitely interesting. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 21, 2008 12oz bottle: Murky brown pour. Completely flat - no head or carbonation. Oxidized nose. Super sour, tart cherry nastiness in the body. Some maltiness below - hops are hard to detect. Infected and undrinkable. Limited release infected beer sucks. I was looking forward to this one. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Bottle from ucusty, thanks man. Poured a deep, murky caramel-brown color with a thin off-white head that faded to a ring. Sweet, fruity (apple, pear, raisin) aroma with caramel, brown sugar, a light leather-like earthiness and some alcohol. Sweet, smooth entry with a faintly tart fruitiness with hints of green apple and a nice caramel maltiness with some light brown sugar and a lightly dry, fruity finish (pear and raisin). Low carbonation, smooth and thick on the palate. I really enjoyed it, I must have gotten a good bottle. Thanks again David. ucusty (1887), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
