Poured deeper and cloudy brownish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, raisins, vanilla, other dark and fruitiness. Very nice aroma, looked forward to the tastes and then, wham, tastes of sour and tart cherries with some caramel. The tart/sour cherries domininated. CaptainCougar (5494), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Pours a mostly still copper mahogany with some light tan bubbles. Aroma of rich sweet caramel and light cherry fruitiness with a touch of brown sugar. Body starts full and caramely sweet with a nice light fruity complexity before a warming semi-sweet, lightly citrusy finish. Slightly warming cherry fruity complex finish. Should age well. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Dark tawny brown in color, somewhat clear in appearance. Nose of brandy, cheap whiskey and scotch, some maple and some sweet plum malt notes. Overly sweet, under-fermented, sweet, fruity, oily, with some moldy fruit and sweet sherry notes in the finish, overpowering pretty much everything else in this beer, but overall it still tastes okay. goldtwins (4081), Nesconset, New York, USA

The aroma was of sweet aged malt and dark fruits. Mild oxidation. The flvaor is of aged malt and dark fruit but a tart acidic finish. Light syrupy mouthfell. Full body. Fairly warming. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 2006 bottle. Poured hazy medium orange with just a brief prickly initial indication of off-white head. The aroma picked up rich brown sugar and caramel amplified by dark fruity notes and alcohol warmth.. there was a deeply-rooted indication of sourness. The flavor had syrupy dark berries, caramel, and toffee at the core with sour fruit and oaky notes on the edges.. finished strong and rather well-balanced between the sweetness and sourness. Heavier-bodied and a tad too strong and sour on the palate for my liking.. grainy residual sugars stuck with alcohol warmth on the finish.. really warmed up the belly. This was either slightly infected or too old, but it was definitely interesting. Rciesla (3700), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Huge fruity alcohol notes, over ripe dark fruits plums, and raisin on the drier side. Unrefined sugars and more etoh to finish. egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 15, 2008 Poured a murky red brown color with a thin, off white head, no lacing on the glass. Aroma of dried fruits, pine, oxidation, and light floral hops. Taste was quite sour, cherries, raisins, soft caramel malts, and a bit of alcohol. Unfortunate for being so young that this beer could not stand up. I thought the Bourbon version of this was much better.
