Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a small, tan colored head. Some thin sheets of lacing show on the glass. The aroma is really nice showing dark chocolate and caramel first followed by a rich smell of dark fruits, raisins, and cherries. As it starts to warm oak laden vanilla, and a touch of smokiness add to the complexity of this one. The flavor is just as rich and complex with more dark fruits, cherries, and raisins all soaked in chocolate and caramel. Wood, oaky vanilla, and tobacco add to the depth and complexity as well. A lot of rich flavors all blended together to give a full body that is viscous and syrupy. The alcohol is present throughout, but not overly so. This finishes sweet and tangy with some alcohol heat. Really nice beer.

Bottle pours black with no head. Has a complex aroma of dark fruit, caramel, alcohol, and some spice. Has a heavy mouthfeel with slight carbonation. Flavor is spicy, twangy, deep caramel, dark fruit, roasted hops that barely show themselves, alcohol that is somewhat detectable, and finishes with a roasted caramel sweetness. Overall makes me wish I had several more. A great brew.

Bottle... GSRARO Throwdown... Pours pitch black and sits a murky burnt orange in my glass. Small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The incredibly complex aroma is a rich, sticky swirl of maple, dried dark fruits, caramel, wood, chocolate, tobacco, leather, cinnamon and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Booze and sweet molasses with dark, roasty notes. Mild bitterness; light acidity. Finishes sweet, tangy and warming.

Courtesy hopscotch. Pours a dark and hazy chocolate brown color with a small, fading, beige colored head. Dense sheeting shows in place of any lacing. The nose has all kinds of goodness going on. Malts start out with a chocolate and caramel base, followed by a rich reduction of stewed figs, cherries, and raisins. Heaps of vanilla are imparted by the aged wood, as is a distinct smokiness that must come from charred oak. Sherry imparts further fruity, alcoholic warmth. Flavors show more dark fruity sweetness, just as complex as the nose, only this time around there is an acidic twang that stems from the barrel. Raisins, cherries, figs, and dates again comes together wonderfull in a chocolaty, vanilla laden syrum. Hits of tobacco are also detectable, its signature, lightly sweet pungency adding further depth. Rich and full bodied, the palate somehow avoids seemingly inevitable cloyingness, its only detractor being some alcoholic heat. Damn fine beer here.

Throwdown from hopscotch. Reddish brown. Oaky, with a melange of vanilla, chocolate and molasses/sweet dark fruit or raisins. Killah.

Courtesy hopscotch. Very dark brown, small tan head disappears completely. Nose of rich roasted toffee malt, heavy molasses, old wood, alcohol warmth, dried dark fruits, cookie malts, aged elements. Similar flavor, very complex. Full body, viscous, smooth, warming. Awesome after dinner brew. Should handle age very well.

Thanks go to Hopscoth. Aroma is a medley of toffee, oak, dark fruits, vanilla and some raisins. Flavor is rich and warming, with the dark fruits coming to the forefront. Great beer.

Poured almost clear and a very dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is of sweet aged malt and alcohol. Tart roastiness from typical to aged roasted malt. Brown sugar and soy as the beer opened up. Light notes of burnt caramel. Aged malt with roasted and dried fruit taste. Full bodied and warming. Less alcohol presence than the Cherry Adam I just had.
