Thanks to kmweaver for this bottle. Not sure of the vintage but the label is different from the one pictured here. Pours a dark, ruby-tinged brown with a half inch of light brown head that lasts for a bit and leaves some decent lacing. Burnt caramel, rum-soaked figs and raisins, more alcohol and sweet fresh fruit smell. Taste is much of the same with dark caramel, figs, raisins, other fruit and a distinct hop bite in the finish. This one is big, syrupy and smooth. The alcohol is well hidden behind the intense flavors present here. A great old ale.

WOW. Tap GTMW 2008 A few samples. The only beer I had more than one sample of at the fest. Sweet fruit, dark caramel, some higher alcohol. My notes say: Like gummy bears on crack. This beer is very sweet and cloying in a totally pleasurable way. I love this beer.

Sampled at the Great Taste of the Midwest 2008. Port like flavors. Cherries, vanilla, toffee. Dessert like beer, very rich and inviting. Like Rosie’s Old Ale, but a little more of a hop bite, which I prefer. Really excellent and well crafted beer here.

Pour is a dark brown with almost no head at all. Aroma is lots of brown sugar and a candy apple. Flavor is a dark fruit with some brown sugar and molasses. Tasty and easy to drink with no notice of the alcohol.

Small sample, on tap at Great Taste of the Midwest. Consumed on 8-9-2008. Very good, sweet aroma features raisin and cherry scents. Pours a hazy brown. Sweet, sugary, fruity, honeyed taste that reminds me of Barley John’s Rosie’s. However, unlike Rosie’s, Fourth Dementia features a dry fnish and a lighter body (medium body overall). Tasty, good stuff!

Thanks to polomagnifico for the bottle (not sure what vintage). Pours a blackish red with a thin tan head. Malty aroma with lots of citrusy hops. Smooth malt body with huge earthy citrus bitter hop taste. Very much like a smooth BW and very tasty.

Thanks to yjb and RagallachMC, who each sent me a 12oz. Hazy dark mahogany with a medium head. Aroma of brown sugar, raisins and tart cherries. Very sweet taste with a tart finish. Alcohol was covered well. I can’t wait to try my other bottle with more age on it.
