Commercial Description:
Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

Few breweries can execute a beer of this type as well as Kuhnhenn. Loads of sweet caramel, vanilla and toffee malt flavors, but never cloying. Very well balcnced beer.

Bottle at tasting with fordest and toncatcher. Nice sweet aromas. Maple like tastes, lots of malt, very good.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige creamy head. Aroma is wood, cellar, some grass and some mild fruityness. Flavour is the same in a good balance, but also shows some signs of alcohol and caramel. Still a wellbalanced and pleasant brew.

Bottled, huge thanks to omhper. Pours out in a hazy mahogany brown colour topped with a low creamy white head. Big, concentrated and deep malty aroma of toasted malts, cookies, nuts, vanilla, butter, fudge, dark dried fruit. Full thick, and chewy flavour but still manages to possess some elegance in the flavour of fudge, nuts, sweet licorice, almonds with subtle vanilla notes. Silky smooth mouthfeel. Long warming aftertaste of sweet licorice, fudge, roasted nuts and salt. World class brew.

Thanks to maniac for sharing this one, I believe through hopscotch. Very happy to finally try something from these guys. Deep brown, slight head. Hazy, nice bright fruit aroma, some dark fruits, some citric, loads of malt. Really nice, this is one of those beers you want to sniff a while before you actually drink any of it. Flavor is essentially a match to the the nose, with plenty of maltiness, rum soaked fruits is ultimately the major impression. There were some perfume notes in the aroma as well. Really nice, I would think this could be fascinating to age as well.

Bottled, thanks jjpm74! Cloudy mahogany colour, creamy head. Thick and malty with massive amounts of caramel. Sweet and full sized, very soft and cottony. Mild, yet very flavourful - caramel and smoke is prominent. Soothing and warming. Great winter beer!

Ahh Kuhnhenn, you and all your crazy ass beer. This was great. Sampled twice at 08 MWBF. Thick body with a lot of alcohol and a big bag of brown sugar. Awesome.
