Commercial Description:
Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

Bottle brewed 2/16/05, courtesy of jayg (thanks!). Poured dark, cloudy brown with small off-white head. Big aroma on this one, with plenty of malty sweetness, raisins and other dark fruits, caramel, and maybe a little oxidation. Taste is tilted slightly more in favor of the dark fruits, along with molasses in the background. I got a bit of booziness in here as well. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good, though this may be a little past its prime if you ask me.

Batch 3, 2/16/05 bottle from Styles. Big Thanks to Chris for this 2yr old aged brew! Wow, what a crazy pour! Thick like syrup. Murky muddy brown. Small head, but had microbubble lacing ring around the edge of the glass. Similar, but less powerful aroma to the dominion I just had. Malty, some caramelization, no hops in aroma. Heavy molasses sweetness and alchohol makes itself present, but overpowered by the sweetness. Full body and a reminescent of a light port wine. Excellente!

Draft @ the brewery and from growler - Brownish-plumb color with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and sugary with hints of cantaloupe, raisin, plum, brown sugar, and hearty grain. Flavor has a good helping of dark fruit - plum, raisin, plus some cantaloupe. Nice sweet/complex malts with just enough hop bite. A bit of alchohol in there, but its still quite young. Sweet, smooth, and satisfying. I can only imagine that the barrel-aged version of this is fantastic, as the base beer is well made and complex, but could use just a bit of Bourbon and wood.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Thomas_E, another great session @ Papsoe] Small head that was quickly goon. Muddy looking body with a mahogany color. Spare lacework. Lovely aroma of bread, grain, light floral notes, raisin, and plum. Very port wine like feel. Full bodied with a thick thick texture and flat carbonation. Highly balanced moderated sweet and bitter flavor. Nice complex sweet and lingering finish. Amazing brew. 15-08-2007

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of moejuck/Thomas_E. Pours a very unclear orangey brown with a tiny, off-white head. Fat aroma of overripe fruit. Very full-bodied, roasted malts, overripe fruits and a rather alcoholic finish. Low in carbonation - high in complexity. Very delicious indeed. 150807
