Commercial Description:
Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

Dark maple syrup and acajou wood, with a thin moka head. Smooth licorice and molasses with good hops, floral and raisin notes. In mouth, a smooth rich coffee and sweet vanilla in mouth, with warming alcohol, licorice, rich and smooth. Mondial 2006.

Split with sersdf. Bottle. Nice pour, burnt caramel color with a beige head. Nose is spicy (cinnamon, allspice) and buttery with earthy notes. Flavor is sugary and full with a alcohol aftertaste. Aftertaste is also pleasantly bitter... much smoother than I had anticipated. Nice velevety mouthfeel.

apples, caramel and toffee in the aroma, a bit of nuttiness. the beer looks pretty good with a dark brown to red gradient, but i dont like the head. the aroma actually also had a lot of alcohol, which appeared early in the flavor but then was gone pretty soon. fantastically balanced, very well done. creamy, slightly oily smooth beer.

Bottled 02/05. Pours dark brown with a small ring of off-white head. Aroma is lots of malty sweetness, caramel, dried fruit, and some alcohol. Flavor is very complex. Tons of malt, dark dried fruits, some chocolate. Surprisingly no alcohol. Full body and quite smooth. I don’t see one flaw. Could use some hops maybe. I don’t know.

Dark ruby with a small off-white head. Lots of alcoholised caramel on the nose. Taste is dominated by the alcohol. Very sweet, caramel, burnt fruits, dark cherries (without the sour taste). This is not one of those 11% where the alcohol is well hidden. If anything it seems the abv seems even higher than 11%. That fourth dementia is a bit too crazy for me, maybe if they had cured it after its second or third dementia.

Boastful caramel and honey delicacies envelop the strawberry bounty...The cloudy ruby portends a velvety mouthfeel, gently warmed by graceful alcohol...Discreet hop bitterness lingers and the comfy bubbling pushes through all of these sugars...Intimacy is suddenly required...4.2/5

A mroe recent batch (drunk in 2009, no vintage noted on the bottle) tastes more simple somehow. There seems to be some sugar additives in there which were not as apparent in earlier batches. Not very complex at all, but at least the active carbonation makes it very approachable for a dextrinous monster. A good and original sipper, but I am not nearly as impressed as my other tries from different vintages. 3.7/5

Bu au Mondial de la bière 06. Belle bourguogne, peu de collet. Bon arome d’houblon frais. Goût très houblonneux, un peu alcoolisé, mais bon.

my fifth beer from Kuhnhenn and they just keep getting better and better. dark brown on the pour with NO head and almost no lace. malty, sweet with some bitterness on the finish. full bodied and very little carbonation. while it seems to be rather simple on the surface, this is just a downright delicious beer! well hidden alcohol and layers of flavor, outstanding!!!
