Nose is spicy (cinnamon, allspice) and buttery with earthy notes. Flavor is sugary and full with a alcohol aftertaste. Aftertaste is also pleasantly bitter... much smoother than I had anticipated. Nice velevety mouthfeel. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2006 Bottled 02/05. Pours dark brown with a small ring of off-white head. Aroma is lots of malty sweetness, caramel, dried fruit, and some alcohol. Flavor is very complex. Tons of malt, dark dried fruits, some chocolate. Surprisingly no alcohol. Full body and quite smooth. I don’t see one flaw. Could use some hops maybe. I don’t know. Glouglouburp (2881), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Lots of alcoholised caramel on the nose. Taste is dominated by the alcohol. Very sweet, caramel, burnt fruits, dark cherries (without the sour taste). This is not one of those 11% where the alcohol is well hidden. If anything it seems the abv seems even higher than 11%. That fourth dementia is a bit too crazy for me, maybe if they had cured it after its second or third dementia. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

A mroe recent batch (drunk in 2009, no vintage noted on the bottle) tastes more simple somehow. There seems to be some sugar additives in there which were not as apparent in earlier batches. Not very complex at all, but at least the active carbonation makes it very approachable for a dextrinous monster. A good and original sipper, but I am not nearly as impressed as my other tries from different vintages. 3.7/5 Quevillon (1538), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada
