Commercial Description:
Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

A pretty stunningly complex beer. Dark brown and almost a sweet candy like mid-palate. Aftertaste goes forever, just breathe in and out of your nose for a minute or two and savor it.

12oz bottle, 2008 vintage. Pours deep brown with a good sized tan head, spotty lacing. Nose of apple, melon, and candied dark fruits with tons of sweet caramel and toffee. Flavor was also quite sweet with candied fruits, candied apples really stick out, brown sugar and toffee as well. A quite complex brew, great stuff!

A Mes rate. Bottle at home huge thanks to Grant.
This is madness. Crème brûlée. Burnt toffee. Sugar a plenty. Amazing floral and lavender notes. Really unusual. Thick and gloopy but surprisingly tolerable. Faint bitterness in the finish with a tiny hint of spice. Could not drink much but what I can manage I’d really enjoy.

12oz bottle from thecheeseman or dchmela. Have been waiting for ever to try this brew and what better day than the 4th of July. Pours into my snifter a dark murky reddish brown with yellow ish tan head. Aroma is complex with dark fruit, toffee, brown sugar, bourbon, vanilla, sweet and roasted malts, and some booze. Flavor is rich with dark fruits, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, booze, caramel, vanilla and healthy dose of chewy malt. Really rich and complex brew. It does have more carbonation that I expected. This is the 2008 version and I could only expect it to get better with a couple more years of age. This is an outstanding brew and I cannot imagine another old ale being better than this. Cheers Kuhnhenn brothers.

Thanks explosivebeer! Jammy liquor, rich and super malty. Murky chestnut. Oaky, more raisin and syrup, never becomes cloying. Loved this beer.
