Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

2008 bottle from dmschefke. Finally I get to try this gem. And it is a gem!!! A beautiful reddish brown pours with barely any head. Aroma is sweet with tons of caramel, maple, applesauce, raisins, brown sugar and behind all the sweetness you can smell some really nice floral hops. Flavor is sweet and really rich. Tons of maple notes, caramel, brown sugar, apples, prunes, wet wood, and a remarkable hop presence that seems to play hide n seek with your tastebuds. And 11% alcohol...are you kidding? wow what a gorgeous beer.

Pours a reddish brown with a hint of a white head. Strong, alcoholic nose with sweet malt and apple brandy. Flavor is quite sweet with caramel, pumpkin pie spice, and green apple. Alcohol is very well controlled but is still present. The slightly bitter finish does an excellent job of cutting through the initial sweetness rounding out the experience.

Bottle of the 2006. Crazy strong, sweet caramel aroma. Strongest, richest caramel flavor I have ever experienced in a beer, notes of red fruits; it goes on and on, evolving on the palate. Zero indication of the high ABV save the warming sensation as it goes down.

Bottle, courtesy TampaBrew. Dark reddish brown pour, big sandy tan head and lacing. Big caramel heat in the nose, dark fruit, some roast, some chocolatey raisin, big oak and whiskey too. Huge delicious caramel flavors, chocolate, woodsy, some nice thick coffee with big whiskey, brown sugar. Medium-bodied, very drinkable and delicious.

12oz bottle via trade. Pours a dark brownish red color with a thin tan head. Aroma is of smoke, malt, chocolate, caramel, and a strong alcohol presence. Taste is of malt, caramel, chocolate, smoke, and alchol. Underneath the malt, there is a very nice hoppy flavor that serves to even out the big malt and caramel characters. Very well-balanced. Huge, warming boozy feel, that is surprisingly not the slightest bit harsh, and blends very well with the flavors. Lingering dark fruit taste ends each sip. The brew finishes with lots of smoke and raisins. Dangerously drinkable given the alcohol content. Fantastic.
