Commercial Description:
Deep ruby red ale. Extreme malty/caramel flavor; sweet up front, finishing with hop bitterness and aroma. Very complex beer. We recommend at least four more months of age. But it is a delight to drink now.
Batch 1 - brewed late 2003, draught only.
Batch 2 - brewed 8/1/2004
Batch 3 - brewed 2/16/2005
Batch 4 - brewed end of Dec. 2005 (part of this batch was bourbon-aged)

Bottle. Aroma is complex and fruity. Caramel, chocolate, oaks, figs, apples, cherries. Clear ruby with a light head. Thick and syrupy sweet with cherry notes, slightly unbalanced on the sweet side but tasty and deep.

Bottle. First taste of Kuhnhenn, and I am honestly disappointed. Pours a deep brown color with a hint of amber and a large beige/white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, nutty and a hint of booze. Taste is big, complex, sweet and interesting. Palate is nice and thick, but a little on the thick/sweet side. Overall, too sweet, too syrupy.

Tap. Dark and rich. Creamy with some light bitterness. Lots of rich caramel malts ans some dark fruit and molasses. Easy drinking for the alcohol content.

2008 bottle from stfun.. thanks brother. I havent had a Barleywine or Old Ale in a while, so I was looking forward to this. Poured into a snifter with a monster head. Dark brown color. Funky aroma of some brown sugar and fruits. Fruity taste... Lots of malt and caramel. Sweet taste overall. Average texture and carbonation level. Alcohol is hidden nice. Nice sipping beer. Thanks josh for the hook up!

2008 bottle shared by barrios. Beautiful plum colored pour with dull garnet highlights and large, sustainable khaki head. Nose is dark berries, rum, brown sugar, with a wild pineapple note. Flavors are very complex and distinct- maple syrup, floral hops, mild alcohol. I’m sure these flavors will meld together quite nicely over time. Reminds me of a barlywine with brown sugar added. Very prickly full bodied carbonation. Very good brew.

Pours a dark brown with creamy beige head. Aroma of pineapple, caramel, bread, other fruit. My description isn’t doing it justice, very pleasant aroma. Very sweet up front, some caramel, sugarcane, coffee, malt, Pleasant finish, doesn’t overwhelm considering the blast of malty sweetness. Excellent beer!

2008 bottle. Pours a glass full of beige head that sticks around in lazy pillows and nice lacing. Dark copper with ruby highlights. Dark bread, brown sugar, fresh pineapple aroma. Thick mouthfeel. Flavors of dark bread, brown sugar, toast, and pineapple. Finish is brown sugar and some hops. Balanced well for the abv. Damn fine ale.
