Aroma was wood and rasberry. Solid blend. Flavor was about the same. One of the few beers that stood out for me and golubj. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 20, 2008 First sample at NOTB EBF 08. Pours a murky violet tinted brownish gray with prety much no head and a very low carbonation (served from a barrel!). Aroma is intenste raspberry puree but earthy as well with some tartness- not as sweet and enticing as NG Rasp Tart though, and has a wierd phenolic alcohol burn in the end that was off-setting. Flavor is at first sweet rasp then gets a bit tart and finishes astringent with tannin, alcohol burn and paint thinner. Way too boozy and fusely for me- I almost couldnt drink it. I believe they said this was 12+% abv. ajm (950), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 20/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 16, 2008Cask pour at EBF 2008 - Night of the Barrels. This is the one example of barrel-aging that I think its truly profound and genius for its functionality. The American Oak gave me the illusion that I was eating a raspberry branch whole because the wood was so beautifully realized in the brew. All the sweet and none of the green. Just dynamite: I cannot stop thinking about this brew. LilBeerDoctor (1530), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Extreme Beer Fest 2/15/08: Dark red/brown, murky in appearance. I loved the aroma: raspberries, flowers--it smelled like a meadow. The taste didn’t quite live up to my expectations from the aroma though. Too much wood and not enough of the framboise and other flavors. Strong alcohol presence. It was ok. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2008 EBF V NOTB. Looked like raspberry-tinged mud, in a good way. Aroma really nice with tart and sour raspberry, a complex, perfumy aspect, and wood. I felt the taste was too heavily dominated by the wood and didn’t allow all the other flavors exhibited by the aroma to fully shine. Still very tasty. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Feb 18, 2008 EBF NOTB. Deep red color. The aroma is of delicious raspberries and wood. The flavor was nice, I think the wood aging went better with this fruit beer than it did with many other beers from the evening. I think I got a piece of raspberry in my mouth while drinking. punkrkr27 (644), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 9, 2007 Bottle thanks to Eric and Brett Kuhnhenn. Bottle was a bit of a gusher. Reddish copper pour with a huge white head. Very strong raspberry note with a hint of alcohol. Reminds me of raspberry sherbet. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
