Commercial Description:
This mead was made with the orange blossom honey. A faint smell of citrus can be found in it’s bouqet. Two years of aging was required for this traditional style of mead.

Thanks retorp for the share. Pours a clear yellow color with nose of peach, honey, light fruit and alcohol. Flavor is boozy honey with floral and light fruit notes. Very sweet as is citruses around my mouth. It is very enjoyable, but strong at 13%.

Bottle, courtesy Degarth. Pours a light golden straw color, with no head or lacing. Big nose with honey, cider, caramel, and some dry waxiness. Fresh honey flavors, vanilla, slight caramel, very good. Smooth, great body, so drinkable, and the alcohol is absolutely nowhere to be found.

Objectively speaking: Complex and very perfumey, most satisfying mead.
I like: I don’t attack a 13% mead expecting the dryness I prefer in beer and this delivers. Highly perfumey nutty, flowery (lilac, vanilla laden cake in the oven), even spicy. Very potent. WHile syrupy and chewy, this remains very drinkable, thanks to both its spicy twist and its enticing perfumes. You miss it as soon as you’ve swallowed.
I dislike: I can’t call its alcohol subtle. Playing a bit on the nutty, toasty oxidation notes which I don’t dig so much.

375mL bottle @ Kuhnhenns. Pours a pale straw color with solid legs; headless with just a touch of bubbles. Loads of honeyed sweetness and floral notes in the aroma; fruits and slightly medicinal. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: loads of honey and vanilla-tinged sweetness; some floral notes (presumably orange blossom?) and light medicinal notes; alcohol is reasonably well-hidden; very sweet, generous, slightly unhinged mead. Lengthy finish: sweet honey, toasty notes, and lingering sweetness everywhere.

A very good, unusual mead. Sweet aroma with mandarin oranges. Medium sweet flavor, with some yeast, flowers, sugar, and honey. Its a shame this is no longer available.

Thanks go out to Alister AND Guerde for the tasting last weekend and for the chance to taste this. This nose was light and not very descriptive. Is wasn’t bad but just not real heavy. Lightly reminescent of my days as a Florida Orange picker before I lost my job to you-know-who. Flavor was a lot sweeter than the Apis and the citrus was a neat way of adding something to what could have been a simple mead. Very interesting mead.

(bottle, thanks OSLO) Pours clear light gold with decent legs on the glass. Smell is pretty nice with a lot of sweet honey, but there’s a bit of floral scent along with some orange. Taste is very good, with a lot of sweet honey, and a little bit of alcohol that makes its presence known. Fairly full mouthfeel that leaves a lingering finish. This is definitely a quality mead.

[’06 Bottle, thanks Ibrew2or3!] Pours clear pale golden. Aroma is honey with some nice floral fruitiness definitely evident. There is a good balance between the alcohol and the honey sweetness in the taste, but I did find it to be a little simple. Good mouthfeel and a fairly long floral, fruity finish. A well-done mead.
