bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Nov 7, 2009 2007 bottle thanks to pantanap. Pours almost flat and dark red. Nose of raspberries and chocolate with alcohol present. Taste is complex, with chocolate and bitter rasperries abounding. Alcohol is definitely present. Full body and easy to drink. Unique and well done. JulienHuxley (165), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada Nov 6, 2009 Updated: Nov 7, 2009Bottle. Muddy brown appearance with no head whatsoever. The chocolate-raspberry mix actually gives off a very strawberry aroma with a bit of alcohol. Taste, what to say, this is a raspberry chocolate bomb, strong syrupy and sweet with a long (medicine) finale. Very dessert. Minimal carbonation with a strong port mouthfeel. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 17, 2009 Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. 2007 vintage. Muddy brown in colour with very low carbonation. Huge grainy cereal malts upfront in the nose, along with notes of caramel, chocolate, and a hint of raspberry. Extremely focused caramel, dark chocolate, and raspberry truffle on the palate. Very smooth and warming. Would make for a near perfect after dinner drink. Great stuff. msante79 (776), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Oct 15, 2009 Broke this puppy out for my 30th birthday. 2007 small 6oz bottle thanks to Northernbrews. Pours murky dark reddish brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, berries, sweet caramel, and some booze. Flavor is raspberries, chocolate, sweet caramel, and some malt undertones. Palate and is silky smooth and a little syrupy but that is ok. Finishes sweet and chocolaty. Really good stuff. I love this brewery. Snojerk321 (1910), San Diego, California, USA Oct 13, 2009 This one was simply decadent. Aroma was of wine and raspberries. The taste was like a luscious, moist chocolate cake intermingled with mellow raspberries and hints of caramel and almond. Truly a dessert beer. Interestingly, the raspberries seemed to be quite mellow, which is what really set this apart from some other fruits I’ve had. They played a secondary, yet no less succulent role. The beer finishes slightly tart with a bitey-wine feel to it. Alcohol warms greatly as it goes down. I enjoyed every sip of this masterpiece. elihapa (1028), Honolulu, California, USA Oct 4, 2009 2009 GABF Saturday. Took me aback seeing this on tap, it was hand-written into the banner, obviously a special late-addition to their fest lineup! 2007 version, so stated on the sign. Oh my was this delicious, probably in my top five on the festival. Color is brown, murky, with magenta undertones and a wispy cookie color head. Aroma is a mature vanilla, chocolate, wood and berries. Flavors are distinct by way of how much they ebb and flow into each other. Often, I couldn’t tell when the milk chocolate flavors ended and the rich raspberry dark chocolate truffle began. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and creamy throughout, with a long but not sticky finish. Superb beer, love to secure a bottle of this for myself. HomerSlottved (28), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 1, 2009 Fairtraded with Hildigöltur!! 2004 version consumed at Plan B. Amazing beer. Not much to look at with dissapearing thin head and clear dark brown colour. But the aroma hit me with dark chocolate and fruit and the taste was chocolate and complex malts and a seductive fruity tartness to balance it. And now it’s gone..... DaSilky1 (1924), San Diego, California, USA Sep 27, 2009 GABF 2009: 2007 vintage...and it pours a deep dark amber with a gigantic tan head. The nose caused an instant ejaculation with its chocolate raspberry orgy of love. The mouthfeel was thick..alcoholic..and like a jesus blessed raspberry truffle. A sweet, thick, syrupy mind-bending dessert of a beer. ISO ISO ISO ISO ISO ISO ISO!
