| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Bottle 2007. Reddish brown pour. Aromas of wood, caramel, port, honey, vanilla and some chocolate raspberries. Flavor is good, but really not what I expected. Initial hit of chocolate, raspberry, caramel, vanilla and thick mouthfeel is offset by too much alcohol. I was unimpressed with the finish to be honest. But I did like the beer. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Bottle and on draft. Pours a brown ruby body with a white head. Raspberries, caramel, light wood, vanilla, sweet and fruity to the finish. Awesome beer. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2008 This poured a dirty red to brown in color. The nose showed off lots of chocolate dipped raspberries. This is simillar in the medium-bodied palate that had nice richness. While this was an enjoyable beer, I do not quite get all the fuss. It was well-balanced yet fairly simple. swoopjones (1917), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2008 Thanks to Rustychiles for sharing this, and congrats on #500. Pours a pale-ish amber/red with no head. Bottom of tiny bottle is a dark, viscous syrup. Aroma is of malt, light raspberries, and particularly of chocolate. Taste to match - on the sweet side, but not overly-cloying. Would make a great dessert beer. I was pleasantly surprised that the booze character didn’t overpower the other flavors. rustychiles (1058), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Pours a nice murky brownish red color with a lot of black sediment in the bottom of the bottle that I had to avoid pouring into the glass initially. Aroma is very sweet syrupy decadent chocolate, raspberry, and caramel. Flavor is raspberry, chocolate, caramel, vanilla bean, with a syrupy thick mouthfeel. Great after dinner cordial or slow sipping delight.
