This little guy packs some serious flavor and a hell of a body. Shared with Katie alongside some Bourbon Barrel Angel’s Share. Velvety pour that produces light brown bubbling and a stained-wood color similar to brandy. I felt that the raspberries contributed most to the aroma, releasing a wonderful nose of dark chocolates, toffee, complex caramel malts...and of course, a dump-truck of raspberries. Chocolates stand out more in the flavor, with the raspberry fading rather quickly with an aftertaste of leather and sweet brown sugar. Body is amazing, so soft and oily, soothing and rounding out the fruity notes. Great stuff, I’m sure it ages damn well. DicksMcGee (54), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 20, 2008 A- Pours a deep scarlet, very similar to fourth dimensia only without a head.
S- Second brew i’ve tried from kuhnhenn, second absolutely intoxicating aroma. Deep raspberries much like New Glarus raspberry tart but there’s something behind it, namely a well hidden alcohol aroma that lingers in the nostrils.
T- Much more interesting of a brew than the aroma let on. Nice, however truncated, raspberry flavor followed by quite a bit of alcohol warming. This beer is very hot right now and I think it would round out a little more with some age under its belt.
M- Thick with ample carbonation.
D- It’s hard to comment on the drinkability of this beer. On one hand, I love it’s complexity but on the other the booziness needs to cool off a bit. An amazing brew that i’m sure i’ll try again.

Pours a hazy amber with a small tan head. Aroma of rasberries, chocolate, and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma but not as prominent. Medium full mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Made with extra YUM! MesandSim (5940), London, Greater London, England

I have lusted after this beer for a very very long time. It was certainly the beer I was most excited about at the tasting. Shame it was then that while it thought everything else was excellent I really couldn’t get into the aroma. In fact initially I gave it a 4 but it grew on me a bit. It’s just spoiled for me by the thick and sickly caramel malt. Anyway, aroma moan over. It’s a beautiful looking awesome ruby red / brown colour. Flavour is gorgeous. A bit of chocolate, lovely fruit, awesome light sourness and barrel notes. The raspberries come on strong for the finish with the only obvious alcohol being a pleasing warmth in the belly and a lingering sting on the tongue. Such a shame that the aroma lets it down otherwise I would be doing cartwheels over this one. kieleszd (83), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

These guys are the guts of the brewing industry. Always trying to out due themselves and never getting comfortable. This is their gem but not their greatest work. Its full of chocolate malt raspberry taste with a little head. A true sipper cheers to this special occasion brew. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Aromas of raspberries and vanilla. Syrupy and woody notes. Full bodied with a big palate! Wonderfull brew, but not too overt on the raspberry flavor. Sticky long and lingering. Nice alcohol burn. Cocoa and chocolate undertones. Slightly nutty. Woody and honey. Toffee flavors. Mild slick effervescence. Vanilla notes. Wood aged? Total dessert beer! Subtle corny note. So smooth! Low acid. Absolutely stellar! Good burn mixed with the residual sugar sweetness. Damn fine! Thanks Ric! valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2008 Bottle from my first RB trade courtesy of Pantanap - thanks Kan!! 2004 vintage, so this puppy has got some age on her. Bottle made a pop sound when opened, so I’m feeling a bit better about oxidization issues. Pours a ruddy brown color that, well, sort of looks like swill, but you know this means business nevertheless. Almost no head to speak of. Aroma is gorgeous...loads of raspberry, caramel, sweet chocolate blended together with some roasted nuts in the background...a unique aroma that is outstanding! Flavor is more complex than I expected...the raspberry almost takes a backseat to strong caramel and milk chocolate accents, but the raspberry comes through at the end and in a nice way...heavy on the sweetness but stopping well short of being cloying. Picking up some orange flavors...and almost gives me the vibe that there is some Grand Mariner mixed in. Alcohol flavor is still prevalent after 4 years. Finish is surprisingly sour and bordering on acidic, so I’m thinking something kicked in over time, and there is a good dose of carbonation here still. Looking forward to trying a 2007 that is ’fresh’ to see how it compares!
