Draft. Pours dark red with almost no head. Sweet jammy raspberry aroma with some underlying hints of chocolate. Similar flavor profile, with raspberry, dark fruit, some chocolate and general sweet malt notes. Just a hint of booze. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

Tap @ Blind Tiger. Dark ruby brown pour with no head. Sweet raspberry, and dark fruit aroma. Chocolate, caramel, malt, sweet raspberry, and boozy flavors. great but not awesome.

Pours a dark brown/red with very little carbonation. Aroma is sweet, mostly of raspberry and other dark fruits. Again with the raspberry in the flavor not surprisingly, also malt sweetness, and chocolate mix powder. Mouthfeel was oily, dead. These fruit bombs, I can tell now, just aren’t my favorite genre thus far, which is why I don’t really understand the hype. I’m glad I got the chance to experience this nevertheless. Overall, good.

2007 bottle shared by Brad at Jackie O’s in Athens. The beer is a deep reddish-gold color with a very thin off-white head that disappears pretty fast. Spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is raspberries and cocoa along with a touch of malt. Rich body with sweet raspberry, chocolate and sherry flavors along with notes of malt. The finish is fruity with a finish of plums and malt. Right there with New Glarus Belgian Red. Very good all around.

On tap at Blind Tiger. The aroma is raspberries, caramel, chocolate. The appearance is an attractive purple/brown color, very thin off-white head. The flavor is amazing, raspberries, ripened fruit, caramel, booze. The finish has low intensity but lingering hop bittering. Great beer. Could definitely use some aging.

Bottle of the 2004 thanks to pantanap, saved for rating #900. Thanks Kan! Caramel, plum, and raspberries hit my nose before I even manage to pour this. When I do it pours slow and still, thick like oil, and deep brown. No head, though a few bubbles do appear, but they don’t stick around. Lots of caramel and toffee. The nose is slightly boozy, chocolate, some light plum and prune notes. Still a good amount of carbonation on here, and it’s all very fine bubbles. Velvety mouthfeel. The flavor is excellent. Chocolate, light raspberry – sort of reminds me of a chocolate truffle. Little hints of vanilla and sweet plum candies. Large warming cognac notes at the end. Really well done.

bottle courtesy of iowaherkeye. looks like dirty creek water. an eye opener for sure. a nice thin black syrup.sweet raspberry smell that is very delectable. the bitter aftertaste lingers just a while too long.

2007 bottle, big thanks to ogglethorp. Ruby brown pour, lovely color, thin beige head, no lace. Aroma starts with fresh raspberries, a bit of caramel and chocolate bring up the tail. Flavor initially raspberry with a potent alcohol bite. The would-be medicinal alcohol quality is balanced by a sweet, syrupy thick caramelly body, hints of chocolate bring up the rear. Fiery on the palate in spite of the thickness.
