Real raspberries abound in this chocolate caramel after dinner treat. Aged for a smooth texture and drinkability. This lager beer will handle additional age very well.

2007 bottle, big thanks to ogglethorp. Ruby brown pour, lovely color, thin beige head, no lace. Aroma starts with fresh raspberries, a bit of caramel and chocolate bring up the tail. Flavor initially raspberry with a potent alcohol bite. The would-be medicinal alcohol quality is balanced by a sweet, syrupy thick caramelly body, hints of chocolate bring up the rear. Fiery on the palate in spite of the thickness.

187ml Bottle (2007): Aroma of raspberries, chocolate, slight cherry, light tobacco, and a hint of alcohol. Poured magenta/purple in color with no head at all. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Full of small particles throughout. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of raspberries, light chocolate, light wood, and a hint of alcohol. Full body. Slightly dry, slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Chocolate, raspberry, wood, and tobacco finish is lightly dry. Very good, but not amazing. 10.6%ABV is very well hidden.

Bottle, 2007. Delectable raspberry-chocolate aroma with some nuts and earth, hints of alcohol. Flavor starts off along the same lines though by the swallow is partially overrun by a prune juice sort of presence. Pretty rich and decadent on the palate, though the juice aspect of the prunes takes a bit of that away from me as well. Were it not for those prunes, this might have been an all-timer for me. Perhaps I would have preferred it fresher? Still a joy, especially to sniff.

2007 bottle thanks to my Secret Santa. Pours brown with just a ring of white head. Aroma is like a raspberry filled brownie with some boozy notes too. Flavor of medicinal raspberry with a chocolatey finish. Also some prunes and raisins. Top fruit beer? Not for me. 8/4/7/3/14 (3.6/5)

On tap at Kuhnhenn. This beer is amazing! It is a brownish red color with a slight head. Taste is malty with hints of raspberries and sweet/tart fruits, the beer itself isn’t incredibly tart however. . The aftertaste was warm with hints of alcohol coming through. The only problem with this beer is that it cost $13 a 6.3oz bottle.

Hazy brown with a small beige ring of foam on top. Fat malty aroma with well integrated raspberries, tobacco and leather. Flavour is just as fat, malty with notes of leather, caramell, wet tobacco complemented by a nice acidic toutch from the rasberries. This unique beer finishes with a really warming aftertaste that grips ahold of your mouth and never really let go, lovely warmth alongside slight acidic lingering raspberry.

6.3oz 2007 bottle served in a small snifter. A - Pours a rich caramel with reddish hue. I think I see a few small bubbles of carbonation, but didn’t expect any given the abv. S - Fresh tart raspberries dipped in caramel chocolate. I could smell this all night long. T - Big malty raspberries, chocolate, caramel, and cherries. I thought it would be sweeter in the sugar sense, but it’s just massively malty sweet. M/D - The amount of carbonation is perfect for this beer. It just slightly bubbles over your tongue, but leaves your mouth lingering with the malty syrup. Drinkablity is great, and the bottle size is absolutely perfect. I need to find at least one more bottle of this to see what its like at 3+ years...
