Pours a plum brown with reddish highlights and next to no head. Aroma is sweet and malty -- almost smells syrupy -- with notes of ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate, some hints of raspberries, booze, caramel and toffee. Flavor is malty and tart with strong notes of chocolate, raspberries, brandy, port wine, sweet caramel and hints of ripe dark fruit. Lightly carbonated and medium to full body with a tart chocolate and cherry finish. What a nice beer. ditmier (1110), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 4, 2009 2007 Bottle - Thanks dmschefke! - Pours a murky amber with a tiny creme ring...aroma opens incredibly as it warms, dark berries, milk chocolate, butterscotch...flavour is astounding, cocoa and tart fruit that give off a slight spiciness...the higher alcohol is absolutely necessary to cut the richness...hard to say definitively if it’s worth the price because that’s a judgement call, but it’s a lovely beer to experience... porterhouse (1162), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 3, 2009 (187 ml bottle (2007) via trade with pantanap, thanks Kan!) Pours murky slightly grayish brown-red. Very slight biege head around the edges. Aroma is sourish-tart with berries and slight chocolate. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, maybe a little heavier/thicker than most fruit beers, very light carbonation. Flavor of smooth chocolate and raspberry with a lightly tart sourish tang. ABV well-hidden (labelled as 11.7% I believe). Most impressive thing about this beer was a very unique, genuine beer taste - doesn’t happen that often with fruit beers. coharahawk (87), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Pours a very cloudy reddish brown with some floaty stuff. Aroma has fresh raspberry, chocolate, toffee, and caramel. Flavor is sweet cherry and raspberry and dark chocolate. Finishes with a substantial alcohol burn and a nice thick and smooth texture. A unique and delicious dessert beer. danielcurtis81 (909), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 19, 2009 Bottle of 2007 via trade with Boutip. Pours a deep cider brown with a few bubbles. Aromas of candy chocolate pieces, caramel, raspberry. Flavors follow the nose. Reminds me of a high-quality homemade raspberry tootsie pop with a mix of caramel apple. Very nice after dinner drink. Mouth is slightly effervescence with a sweet aftertaste and a slight alcohol burn. I wonder how this one is with even more age on it! beernbourbon (308), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 19, 2009 Big thanks to Puddintane for this 2007 bottle. Pour is deep ruby red with a short-lived tan head. First smell surprised me, way more chocolate than expected. Also cinnamon, raspberries, cloves, malt, plums, and brown sugar. The eariler description of tootsy rolls is very accurate for me. Wow. Mouthfeel is oh so velvety. Flavor is raspberries, dark cholcolate, cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla. Finish is brown sugar and raspberries. Slight alcohol burn in the finish as it warms. Very tasty beer, lots of depth and complexity. Not genrally my style, but maybe it should be. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2009 Thanks to mattmc1973 for this one. Pours dark red with no head. Not very much in the way of carbonation. Aroma is of raspberry, malt, alcohol, funk, and sugar. Taste starts off with huge tart raspberries and chocolate. There is a slight malt presence to it as well. Has a very sugary base to it all. Beyond the raspberries, the other flavors all come off as muted. Lingering tart flavors. Mouthfeel is medium and very sticky. A very one-note beer, but it is good. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it again. GodOfThunder (878), Orlando, Florida, USA
