beerbuzzmontreal (2700), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 10, 2006 2004 vintage, Maudite glass. The pour reveals a cloudy dark ruby color with a thin tan head that diminishes to a small ring. As I stick my nose in the glass I feel joy, it feels that I知 sniffing a potent liquor or a good port wine. I can already tell that I知 going to love this beer. The second time I stick my nose in I知 more prepared to be amazed, I can concentrate on the different elements, there is chocolate, raspberries and caramel, the alcohol is barely noticeable. A third sniff reveals something close to plums or grapes. Ok, enough chit-chat, let痴 taste this marvel ! Wow, I知 astonished, bewildered, amazed, in love. The flavor has an extremely balanced and harmonious blend of chocolate, caramel and raspberries. Again I知 reminded of grapes, but now it痴 more like candied grapes. And again the alcohol is barely noticeable. The body is full with a very liquorous and oily texture while the carbonation is low. This is an extremely well made beer, a highly amazing liquid dessert. Merci Martin!
thickfreakness (61), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 2, 2008 Thanks to bgramer for this 2007 bottle. An aggressive pour into my St. Bernardus glass leaves me with a dark ruby brown beer that leaves a quarter inch head that fades immediately. Aroma is of raspberries, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow creme, caramel and alcohol. Taste is chocolate, raspberry, marshmallow creme/rich caramel, and alcohol. I’m not a big fan of the marshmallow creme flavor but I appreciate this beer for what it is. Huge syrupy body that has a slight tingling carbonation. This just keeps getting better and better the more it warms. More alcohol is coming out but it blends well with the flavors and the aforementioned creme flavor is starting to meld with other flavors better. matt7215 (562), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 2007 vintage bottle from linus_stick. pours dark brown with no head. aromas of raspberry, chocolate, tootsie roll. flavours are similar but this comes together in liquid form far better then one could imagine. it is the best beverage ive had that in know way reminds me of conventional beer. if i were the brewer of his concoction id bottle it in 750ml bottles and sell it as a liquer for $100 a bottle. that being stated its one of the best beers ive ever had and im truely mad it comes in the 167 ml format. give me 750’s of this and ill be happy. till then im content. thx linus you made me content on this evening. undsioux7 (488), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2008 2004 bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma of chocolate, raspberry and something I can’t put my finger on. Taste is the same with some oak, vanilla, alchohol and caramel. Very, very smooth. Could only handle a little bit though. Thanks Grim!!!! grimreeser (687), Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 26, 2008From illinismitty. Pours a dark dark brown with a small head. Big complex aroma, chocolate, raspberry. Very sweet flavor. Thanks Sean! TheCheeseMan (509), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Courtesy JMFG. The aroma of this gem is stunning, almost beyond comprehension. Chocolate, raspberry, malted milk and nougat all add to the mastery. The flavor is almost overwhelming. The chocolate and raspberry is strong. Stunning.
